FWIW: Just thought I'd bring up something on batteries for the 3.7 that I discovered. When I got my 3.7, I ordered a couple of AW 14500 batts for extras to use in rotation. I found that they did not fit the 3.7 box. Some Trustfire Flame Jackets also do not fit. They are just a bit too long, however no real problem for me, as they do fit the 5v box, so I just took the regular Ultrafires I had for the 5v and use them in the 3v. So if you are wanting to get extra batts for the 3v, stay with the regular Ultrafires that are included in the full kit. I really don't think, so far anyway, that the extra price for the AW's is worth it.

You could also clip that spring a tad shorter...

Thank you Cleo, and Cigarman for watching my thread while I was camping. Photos to be posted later, along with a recap, and details about tent camping during 2 inches of rain over night with a wife and 2 kids under the age of 7 inside the tent.

Vapor really lingers in a damp tent I tell ya.....

Ok, before I get back to business, Here are some photos of the camping trip.

Oh, I had plenty of battery power for vaping. I only went thru 2 sets of batteries on a 5 volt, and took the monster 3.7 18650 mod, and never went through the 1st battery, and still have the 2nd battery fully charged. What a beast. It was a great trip, minus the two inches of rain we got on Tuesday night. Thankfully I always camp prepared with plenty of tarps and rope. I was able to keep the tent totally dry, and thankfully none of the many rivers that formed in our campsite ran through our tent.

The Giant Sequoias are quite amazing. If you ever come to California, I definitely recommend taking a day trip about 3 hours east of San Francisco, and within a couple of hours from Yosemite. Here are some of the photos we took:

The dogwoods are at the later stages of their bloom. This was a great shot with the dogwoods in the foreground, with the Giant Sequois just beyond. Hard to see how big these trees are in this photo.

This formation is what made Mr. Mercer famous. A chunk of this formation can be found in the Smithsonian. This cavern has the largest of this type of formation in the world, and only 3 percent of all caverns have this. Sorry, cannot remember the name of it.

Hope you all enjoyed the photos.

Hig,

Another very important reason you should *always* use distilled water when dealing with attys and cartos is this.

Distilled water is deionized, whereas water filtered by other means is not. Those stray electrical particles can do some very funny things to the flavor of the vapor, and *may* even damage the coil(s) in your carto or atty. I am unsure as to the exact physics of this; I am neither a chemist nor an electrical expert, but I've been told that it is absolutely essential to use distilled water and nothing else, regardless of the pH balance and mineral content of other available water.

Ciego - Not sure if it's the same wick material as a Boge, but I tried the first cleaning of two SmokeTech 1.5 ohm dual coil clear cartos and was impressed. Used them for just over 2 weeks and decided to run them under hot tap water. Since they are clear cartos and both dark juices, it was easy to tell when they came clean. I was impressed at how fast the hot water cut the juice. This leads me to believe it is better to clean them before they dry out and harden. Had them under a small fan for a day to dry out and been using them this week. They are like brand new.

It gave me an idea to let the old Boge's soak in water so the juice wouldn't dry and harden. We have very hard water here, so bought a gallon of distilled water and going to let them soak in that for a day or two and try running them under hot tap water and see what happens. That would be much easier than boiling. Probably won't work with menthol or cinnamon, but I don't use those. I'll let you know how it goes. It seems logical.

Here's another tip:

Filling cartomizers: For my '808 cartomizers, I tend just to drip a few drops at a time into the mouth end of the carto, then gently do the Terran spin (which amounts to putting the carto into a narrow bag, like a '808 battery bag, then spinning it to centrifuge the liquid down into the coil and wick). However, for the dualies and higher-capacity cartos, this can be messy, takes a long time and is frankly a bad solution.

This may be why CCV includes a syringe and needle with every combo pack of cartos he sells. I didn't like syringe filling the first times I tried it...because I was doing it *wrong.* I was trying to suck up the e-liquid through the end of the needle. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

What you do is pull the plunger completely out of the syringe, then drip 30-40 drops of e-liquid directly into the syringe. You can minimize mess while dripping in the liquid by inserting the needle into the carto first; that way, if the syringe starts to leak fluid through the needle, the filler in the carto will catch it.

Once you have the syringe filled with 30-40 drops, gently reinsert the plunger into the syringe. "Anoint" a little e-liquid at multiple levels in the carto filler, out near the case (circumference), not down the middle! Be sure to put the lion's share of the juice low (close to the coil(s)/wick), then slowly pull the needle up and out as you push the plunger into the syringe.

Since I started regularly using this method, my cartos hold a bunch more liquid, vape more completely and evenly, and don't go dry as quickly. It's amazing to me how much liquid some of these cartomizers can hold; one model that Andrew at CCV sells holds over 3 ml. of juice...that's a lot.

So while we're discussing high capacity batteries for your Foxy box, let's not forget cartos which can hold a load of liquid. I am reminded of this, because my carto full of Cinnamint is no longer full, and I need to refill.

Now for my question to Steve: I am having some trouble with my 3.7 FBM, but I thing (again) I might be doing something wrong in charging the batteries. I mean, after all you charge two batteries at a time, and I am trying to discharge both in the pair evenly, but so far I've had numerous recent failed fires with the 3.7 volt box? I dunno what I'm doing here, isn't it obvious? Any ideas? Can the batteries be charged individually, or do they have to be charged in pairs? Thanks.

BTW, Stunning tree photos, my man. <wink>

Actually, I like to charge the batteries one at a time once in a while. Sometimes its because I am impatient, but I also read its a good idea, expecially when using the 5 volt mod. I imagine its is just in case one battery has a higher charge than the other, after cutoff. This way you can bring them both up to full charge, whereas if you charge them together, the one with t a lower charge will never quite top off, but I could be totally wrong.

As far as your box mod, did you say it fired by itself? If so, there is only one thing that really could go wrong, and that is the big momentary button. If it still is giving you grief, please let me know and I will get another one out to you pronto.

But you do not need to charge the batteries together. Plus, they charge twice as fast one at ta time.

No Steve, what I'm saying is that it appears after charging the batteries together, then putting one of them into the 3.7 v. mod, it *will not* fire, as if the battery was dead. It doesn't matter which battery of the pair I put into the box, either one will appear depleted, and the box won't fire. This is the problem I had before, but it was my fault (user error), but this time, I don't know. I know my boxes are still under warranty (thank you), but I'd rather solve this on my own instead of bothering you for a replacement/repair....especially if there's nothing wrong with the box.

Thanks amigo!
