I have 4 18650 boxes on hand, with you in mind when I ordered them. I ordered 2 without a master switch and 2 with one. I want to try and find a better quality master switch. I also dont really want the switch on the bottom, maybe on front, just like the 5v device i currently build. The other two with the master switch I am going to use as parts when I go up and work on the lathe to make a prototype or two at my buddy's in the mountains.

Borockster, you want a 5v correct? or do you want it variable? I can do either, and the price is affected by about $10 if you go variable.

Steve,
My ideal set up would be a 2x18650 with variable voltage, fast change LED, and no master switch. Like you I hate that darn switch on the bottom. I would rather just do without it. If I pocket my box it's usually in a shirt pocket so accidental firing is not an issue. Price is really not an issue...I'm just happy to be included in the early experimentation/prototype process.

Heres the deal...I couldn't really tell you why but I love the boxes. I am not a fan of "tubes". I could buy a provari or a Darwin but to me they are over-complicated and much more prone to failure over something as simple as the boxes. To me the boxes are the vapers answer to the old U.S. Army Jeep...simple, effective, and easy to repair. They get the job done with a minimum of fiddling and fuss.

Can I try the VV regular size or was there only one of those? I'm totally lost here ... big batteries, big boxes, big VV boxes with multiple Big batteries ... oh my. I've never tried a VV and would like to. Then I'll decide if I want a big double battery box with or without VV ... haha

Whatcha got for me, Steve?

P.s. Doesn't turning the master switch off when not vaping make the batteries keep longer or doesn't it matter?

Hey! there is my friend Cleo :) Been missing you.

You can try one of the small variable voltage ones. I have 5 I need to build in the next couple of days so i will pm you when they are done, and working.

So far, I have BoRockster wanting an 18650 variable, with no master switch, Skeet, Opholik, and Cleo. That leaves one left, assuming they all work once built.

Price will be $40 not including batteries, and a charger. They take the 14500 batts just like my other box mods, so most of you will not need another complete kit.

Hi

I've been following the thread for a while, waiting for you to start making the VV. I am also interested in an 18650 but would like one with a single battery in a 2 battery case. That would be enough to last me for 24 hours of solid vaping which would end up as 2-3 days. Plus it would fit into my pants pocket easier.

One suggestion that I do have is that if you are contemplating making it without an on/off switch you should make that an option. I for one would like a switch either on the inside or outside.

Thanks - David

Hi David, the one that i build has to use (2) 3.7v batteries in order to achieve a variable volt that will go above 3.7v. (The provari has different electronics, that "boosts" the voltage.

The dual 18650 box mod is a much bigger box, and is actuallly bigger than it needs to be. Borockster likes the big box (he has one already that takes a single 18650)

I recommend the one that is pictured above. Plus, there is no dremel tool needed to modify the box.

So, let me know if you are interested in the (2) 14500 variable volt box mod. you can have the last one that I have in inventory. Looks like I need to order some more :)

Guys I'm going to hold off on selling the cigars for now.. Sorry. I just can't bring myself to get rid of them just yet.

Here is the one I built last night. The white knob is inside the box when the battery door is closed. Same box as the 5v box mod. The white knob is now you adjust the voltage.

Here are the photos i took today.

I want! I want! Good looking install, very clean.

LOL! I have that same problem. They are like old friends, just sitting there waiting. Talk about aging, most of what I have left are several years old.

I may have an opportunity to get out of dodge, and head to the mountains to work on the wooden mod prototype, and if so, will be working on these variable box mods this weekend. I will only be gone for a day, and will also have access to the computer.

I am glad my fans are still hanging around. It has been a little quiet in the Foxy Thread the last few days.

Cheers, and thank you all for your support. Referrals are much appreciated as well.

Heya Steve!

I've been lurking, no doubt ;) It doesn't look like my buddy, whom I lent my 5v FBM to, is gonna get into vaping :( I knew with this guy, that it was going to be a long shot. It's a shame too, because he among all of my buddies I felt needed to quit smoking the most. He has asthma and respiratory issues, and smokes like a steam locomotive.

Well, I tried. I showed him some of the best the industry has to offer and now, it's just up to him if he wants to make that switch or not. Now, my mission is to annex my 5v back! Along with my eGo batteries and menthol juices. Thank you, Steve, by the way. For everything that you've done and do for the community. :)

Here is the prototype we have come up with for a 3.7 18650 mod.

This is made from a piece of redwood, but the lower photos are of some woods we are working towards.

The lower 2 rolling pins are made completely of manzanita. That is a clear finish, no stain whatsoever

this vase is manzanita too
