The DAV or Zeus Automatics.

The bad and the good.

The bad is they are the heaviest and longest device I use hands free, nothing else this size worked.

The devices are of surprisingly good quality. They are the best built 14mm devices I have yet seen.

I do use it as a hands free device but it is my least used hands free device and I don't take it with me out in the field or when doing anything athletic or labor intensive. I have used it when doing something at my desk but usually I don't need hands free at the desk. The Provari gets the nod at the desk but there are times when I don't want to stop what I am doing and will use the DAV with Smilomizer.

The only way I could get away with using this device hands free is because the Smiliomizer with Vase Tip seems to be designed for hands free use in mind and overcomes some of the problem in weight and length of the 650mAh DAV or Zeus.

They are sealed KR808 threads and are resistant to juice spills.

I have gone an hour with a 650mAh DAV in my mouth using it hands free but I can only do that at a desk. I don't benefit much from hands free at a desk.

If it were an inch shorter it would be my second device with me in the field.

I could get along just fine without the DAV, I got it for testing purposes. It is a nice device and the nicest eGo sized device I have tried, it is just heavier than other eGo sized devices I have seen and too long. I have also bumped it into things a few times.

If I wanted a hands free device for a low or no impact environment it would be fine. This is the only VV device that I currently will consider for hands free usage and only because of the Smileomizer with Vase Tip.

The Automatic eGo's.

The pluses and minuses.

After seeing several different auto eGo's there is only one I will use unless someone shows me a better one. These are the ones from Ikenvape. He has these made to a different spec and is using a different battery.

What makes these different is they have a nominal voltage of 3.96 and you can tell. I use a fixed voltage device for hands free of this type since VV adds weight and length to the device.

These travel with me in the field or when out of the house. I can carry one of these in my mouth for two hours at a time for hands free usage.

SuperCig Automatic eGo 510 Battery

The positives are the performance on these is great, the auto switch is responsive, they are not very long. They simply work great...unless you dump juice into them a dozen times like I have. At 3.96v nominal and trying different ohms on devices the performance can mimic a twist. The 900mAh one is shorter and lighter than the 650mAh DAV. The 350mAh one is petite and has easy hands free usage. I have bumped the 900mAh one into things a few times where I don't think I would with the 650 and 350.

What makes a huge difference in how well these work as a hands free device is the shape of the clearmomizer you use. I am a carto tank person but the I have yet to find a carto tank set up that works will hands free.

I have done a lot of experimenting on on what works.

What I have been using is this wrapped in some rubberized tape. I will explain gripping methods in another post. I want to try plastic dip and cutting out a window.

IKVision LR 510 EGO Clearomizer 1.6ml 1.7

If Ikenvape made a 510 Smilomiser type for these I would be in heaven.

I absolutely love using these batteries with a cleromizer hands free in the field but there are three negatives.

Problem one is I am messy with juice and 510 automatics do not like juice slobs like me. These batteries work great until I spill juice into the air hole a dozen times and the auto switch starts sticking. :(

The other problem is when being athletic or doing something very physical they have more momentum then a cigalike. I will do physical work with one of these hanging out of my mouth until it becomes intense.

Again I have tried alot of Auto eGo types and this is my choice in 510. Try a variety of cleros and consider rubberized tape or plastic dip. Don't be a juice slob like me.

Two hours hands free is not bad as long as you are not being too athletic.

The Automatic Cigalikes.

I can run, jump, decelerate, get bumped around while using one of these hands free and I am fine. Some people will tell you there are no regulated ones and that there are none that have a high drain battery. Not true, there are regulated ones.

Some are at 3.4v which makes it really hard for it to substitute for a larger device. Lets scratch the 3.4v's off the list right away as they are not going to give you what you are used to from your eGo.

A common or generic unregulated 510 and KR808 stick battery start at 4.2 fully charged, and drop to 3.7v quickly, and stop at 3.3v or so. They don't have a great C rating and cannot handle very many amps. The smaller the battery the worst the situation. The can sag under load. Going to low on the ohms can be damaging to the battery and it is possible this could be a safety issue. I have run them at 1.8 ohms but that was probably not a good idea.

There are some enhanced stick batteries they still start at 4.2v and drop quickly to 3.7v then fall to 3.3v. These are a step up from the other stick batteries but they are still limited. They cannot carry as many amps as a high drain battery and hold voltage a little better.

There are some regulated batteries in 510 and KR808, some of these have a have higher mah ratings than the previous two examples because they tend to be LiFePo4 cells. If they are LiFePo4 cells they cannot reach the amperage levels of the previous two batteries and are regulated under load.

There is the high drain battery and I only know of one that it exists in a cigalike but there might be more. I just have not found them yet. This battery can run a 1.5ohm delivery system and puts it in eGo territory in terms of performance. It is going to have shorter run time than an eGo but can carry a bit of power to close some of that gap.

From what I can tell no one has yet found a way to adequately protect and auto 510 battery from juice leakage, there might be some better than others but I am not aware of any resistant ones yet. They are fine as long as you don't spill juice like I do.

The KR808 does have some spill resistant designs and much harder to damage during juice spills.

The spill problem does not apply to manual set ups.

The 45mm cartomizers seem to work better for me when it comes to hands free than the 35mm cartomizers since they give me more room for my teeth to bite down on.

Techniques for hands free vaping.

I first used my front teeth, this didn't work so well and got tiring especially if I was moving around a lot.

I have switched to using molars, on the lighter devices I have it being gripped by one upper and one lower molar and it is sticking out at about 33 degrees. On heavier devices I will have it in the side of my mouth along several teeth and facing forward but off set to the side.

The breathing and vaping becomes a different pattern when going hands free. I you will just get the feel for that by doing it.

What is good for you might not be what is good for me but these are the observations I have made. I have not seen where anyone else has tried as many different hands free configurations as I have but I am sure someone has. There are probably some things i have not tried but if there are I think it is very few.

I can see our situations are different. When I am not needing both hands I prefer to use a manual and at the desk almost only use a manual (Provari) unless I am testing something with a few rare exceptions.

When I am where I would be using a hands free device much of the time I would get along with a manual but that would mean carrying three devices. I chose to only carry two types of devices (not two devices) when I am in hands free mode. A medium sized device that I use when hands free is not needed and when hands free is useful but the situation is not demanding. I switch to a small hands free device when things get more active.

I carry an Ikenvape Auto Ego for non-hands free and light duty hands free. I will carry 3-4 cigalikes in a shirt pocket and until I find better a V4L with a high drain battery.

If I was only going to be using hands free at a desk I would be hard pressed to pick between a DAV 650 with Smilomizer and an Ikenvape 900 with a carefully chosen cleromizer. Why this is a tough choice is the Ikenvape 900mah is lighter, shorter, and runs longer and has sufficient punch. The Smileomizer makes carrying more weight easier and you have have VV, it is also a bigger heavier device. I can hold an Ikenvape and go hands free for much longer than I can with the DAV but the DAV works well. Also the 510 is more easily damaged by spills like I tend to do.

You might or might not benefit from having a powerful cigalike in your situation but it might be nice to have as second device at your desk.

I know I put out a lot of information here.

Your mileage may vary but I would try this first.

SuperCig Automatic eGo 510 Battery

The 350mAh, the reason this one over other brands it is does have a little higher nominal voltage. I can go hands free on one of these for hours.

What clero you use will affect how easy it is.

If you find that you can do this easily and can handle more weight I would eventually get one of the 650mAh ones.

If you find find the first one to be too heavy I would try one of these.

They do cost a bit more than the competition but it is not a higher price without a reason. It is a high drain battery.

My first thought was an automatic passthrough. I know they have VV manual versions and they're tiny. Plug it in and mount one somehow so that you merely have to turn your head to take a puff.

I tried a passthrough while working. It is OK for playing on the internet but when working I thought it was the worst thing I had bought at the time. The cord always seemed to interfere with working. I will never try that again. They also tend to be manuals which kills hands free.

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
That is not really hands free... but a few drops of e-liquid on a cotton ball works VERY well in a device like that. Draw is VERY open.

I wasn't serious when I posted it, honey...lol I just threw "hands free vaping" into Google and tossed out one at the top. :) I was hoping to find something with an oxygen mask/tank setup appearing thing to make the joke funnier but I didn't hit this time.

I need to work during the day (mostly typing on a computer):vapor: and want to vape, but I have to have one hand on my battery in order to vape...

Is there a 'hands free' vape that is as good as a eGo spin and a clearomizer?

Send me an address where you can get a package. I have a bunch of test subjects lying around here and I think I have one that can solve your problem.

i dont mean to be naive or ignorant...or rude.

but is it that hard to take a couple vapes while sitting in front of your computer?

i also send most of my day in front of my computer and dont at all mind picking up my mod and taking 5-6 or even 10 nice hits, redripping and setting it back down and get back to my work.

but to each his own...best of luck with this venture!

Have you considered the Legal Vape 4000? It is well reviewed on YouTube and although the standard setup isn't necessarily ideal in an office atmosphere, it looks like with a little patience and some basic modding skills it could easily be converted to a passthrough as well as be used hands free. Best option available imho.:)

The offer is still out to send you one of my test subjects that would be great for hands free use while working on a computer.
