I will preface this by stating outright that i use mechs, i do not have any regulated mods, i do plan on getting into regulated mods in the future but for now, the ones I want are out of my price range.

I recently came across a really great price on a GA Rampage. Ive been eyeing them for a while but triple coils on a mech can be a PITA so i held off. But with this price i just cant pass anymore.

I have an idea for a build and i set it up on steam engine and it looks like it will work in theory but Im worried about popping such a thin wire...here is the setup

34AWG A1 Kanthal
target resistance is .8ohms
triple coils
1.58 ID
results:
5 full wraps (rounded from 4.75)
Coil ohms 2.4
heat flux 199 mW/mm^2
Heat capacity 2.19 mJ K^-1

Is 34 guage too small a wire? Am i just setting it up to blow the coil?

The reason im getting 34 is because it's the thinnest wire down from 28 guage that the place i order from has in stock.

Problem with twisting wire that small is that in a triple setup im going to end up out my safe zone for ohms or i will have so much mass that it wont heat proper on my mech. Wait for 32AWG?

I do plan on doing some twisted work on my dual setups but i wanna play with 3 coils so bad and 28 is too much wire.

I honestly have no experience with anything more than dual. With thin wire, your gonna end up with tiny coils. are 3 tiny coils really better than 2 large ones? You want surface area. I understand your too much wire statement, takes a while to heat up....yea thats the bad thing about mechs, unless you have a dual battery one your limited.

I have done all the appropriate studying on safety and ohms law. I always build safe. Thank you for the concern though. I always say the same stuff to someone asking about builds. I should have known the wattage but i was just throwing some quick numbers at steam engine and looking for some reasonable results. Appreciate the help and info! I'll post some pics if it works out!

You could try making a 34g interlock to make it workable. 34g is super thin. Try taking 3 strands of clockwise twisted 34g & twist them together counterclockwise. If that's too thick for what you want to do, you can take the third away and use 2 strands of clockwise 34g and twist them together counterclockwise. But I wouldn't build with 34g on its own.

Too small for what?? It's not too small to make the coil you are building.. Try it if you like it do it again.... Only way that coil is going to POP is if you short it against something. Sure it won't take as many watts as a fat wired coil. It also will be more affected by the cooling affects of juice and air.

Thats good to know. Ive been tinkering with some other ideas for the triple coil build that might also work. The great thing about waiting for vapemail is its giving me lots of time to plan some builds so Im not going into it completely blind!

Provided you stay well under the amp limits of your battery...... I say build what ever coil you want.. the worst that will LIKELY happen is the coil pops. What a disaster, you lost a few inches of Kanthal and some time.

Personally I would use the 34 in twisted wire single coil builds. Is the next gauge i will buy. but that's mainly because I hate building multi coils. May favorite so far is twisted 2x32 in the 1.5-2ohm range and 3x32 twisted in the less than 1.5ohm range. ( i run a mech with a 5-15w kick for the 1.5ohm plus builds and the same mech CLEAN for the lower ohm builds.

BEEP! I keep forgetting to change that when I adjust ohms. Most of the other results reset themselves in that section so I just keep plugging in and figuring its adjusting on its own. Im not used to plugging those details into Steam Engine. Usually just building a dual coil .5 - 1.0 ohms and I just need to know how many wraps.

Thanks for the help.
