Question about batteries

So today I purchased 2 Sony US18650VTC3 1600mah batteries that have a max continuous discharge of 30amps. I bought this because I believe it's safer since my rebuildables are drawing 5-8amps. This gives me enough room. However, I then asked myself, why is it that people still buy batteries with lower max cont./pulse discharge? hope this makes sense.

With a fresh battery (4.2v), you are looking at a possible 30 amps/126 watts/0.14 coil. Is that your intention?

Using an IMR battery that is more standard to the vaping crowd at 10 amps max continuous discharge rate...
Freshly charged @4.2v = 42 watts with a 0.42 ohm coil.

I'm not well versed in this subject either, but I don't see how 30 amps will be necessary unless you are going for a new record.


Edit: I wasn't clear on continuous discharge. A pulse discharge is considered to be around 5 or more seconds, and batteries rated at 10amp continuous have higher pulse discharge rates. With a 30 amp continuous discharge and a short, you have the possibility of a melt down that I would not want to be around for. The battery will continue to discharge electricity wherever it can and not vent or fail until it reaches it's limits. Imagine a metal tube mod getting 3 times hotter before the battery vents or explodes. Sorry, but those batteries seem even more dangerous the acclaimed AW's and Efest's that everyone's been using all along.

I know that 30 amps might be too high for most but then isn't it always better to be safer than safe?

You seem dead set on using those batteries. I defer to the wisdom gained from far more experienced vaping gurus. I hope one comes along to address this issue for you. Sub-ohm vaping in the .5 -.7 area is beyond the purview of the "New Members Forum", the danger involved is much higher than one might expect regardless of the hype. I would not do that if I were you, consider yourself warned. You should ask this question in the "Ask The Veterans" section.
