Do you need one? No. Nobody really does unless they want one that can vape at a higher voltage.

Do they make your vaping experience better? Absolutely, in my opinion. I hate dealing with batteries that last maybe an hour with my 510. Now I have a battery that lasts me for two days. It's a world of difference.

ok... good info and thanks for it. Assuming I will desire one anyway... which model would be best for a 510? I require performance out of all my products. and I love pleasing aesthetics. :)

Now that is the subjective part. If I were you, I'd look around, read some reviews, and choose the one that will work best for you.

You're probably about to get swamped in here by everyone saying how their favorite mod is "the best".

Good luck!

There are plusses and minuses to purchasing a commercially available battery pack. Assuming the same voltage and atomizer, all of them should perform similarly. You decision would primarily be based on warranty, craftsmanship, reliability, safety features, ergonomic design elements, versatility and price.

Pros
  • Long run time on a single battery (primarily at the typical 3.7 volt level)
  • Inexpensive replacement batteries
  • Durability
  • Sealed (excellent for dripping)
  • Manual button provides complete control over how long you want to run the atomizer
  • Many devices can run multiple voltages (typical 3.7 volts up to 7+ volts)
  • Can run virtually any atomizer (with reasonably-priced adapters)

Cons
  • Size (these devices are often larger than a typical e-cig)
  • Some buttons may be prone to firing the atomizer when the device is in a pocket or bag
  • Some run unprotected batteries to attain 6 volts
  • Currently none offer automatic operation like a typical e-cig

This is the real issue isn't it... It's not performance. It's the extras that truely make one stand out. So don't buy a Chuck/GG/etc... just for the sake of said items rep... :) im prolly gonna get flamed for that lol. I just want to get the best device possible if and when I do decide to get one.

Do I NEED one? I have a 510. I carry 2 batts, 1 in use, 1 in my pcc. When my batt eventually dies (2-3 hrs later, heavy use) the other one is charged. and if for some reason i get a dead batt before the other is charged then i have my usb PT. So do I NEED a Chuck/GG/whatever else is out there?

Only you can really answer the question.

If you are pulling your hair out over having 3 batteries constantly on charge changing them every 1.5 - 2 hrs and leaving home with pockets full of them as I was then yes it is worth getting a large battery mod.

The small pv batteries are just not built to be hammered constantly day in day out.
When new they will give you 2 ish hours good vapour to a charge this quickly becomes 1.5 hrs and then 1 hr .
It also starts to become expensive when you have to replace them on a regular basis.

The larger mod type you should get 5 - 8 hours constant vaping from a battery and 2 or 3 of them should last you 3 - 4 months.

I also love the switch - never want to be without one again.
