Hey guys, quick question. I am visiting my parents this weekend, and noticed that m dad has a new Siegelei (sp?) 150w. I was curious to see which batteries he was using, so I cracked it open. It looks like he's using 2 li-ion NCR18650 green batteries. I wasn't able to see a brand on them. Are these safe to use, or should I confiscate them? I don't fuss around with 18650s, as I use mods with built in batteries.

Thanks!

As Roxy said, they are low amp batteries. OTOH, they use a technology that is really safe. Still, I wouldn't use a pair of them for any more than about 30 watts for vaping.

I agree with the above. NCR (nickle carbon) are safe chemistry batteries made by Panasonic, however most are not considered "high drain" batteries (higher continuous discharge rate / 20 - 30 amps CDR).

For optimal performance of your father's regulated mod, have him get one of the recommended high drain batteries above.

Panasonic or Orbtronic (IMR/Hybrid)

CGR18650CH 2250mAh 10A CDR

NCR18650BD 3200mAh 10A CDR

NCR18650PF (LiNiCOMnO2) 2900mAh 10A CDR

NCR18650PD (LiNiCoAl) 2900mAh 10A CDR

Orbtronic 18650 3500mAh 10A CDR

Orbtronic 18650 SX22 2000mAh 22A CDR

Orbtronic 18650 2500mAh 21A CDR

Orbtronic 18650 SX30 2100mAh 30A (*tested as only a 20 amp CDR)

Panasonic 26650 CGR2650A 2650mAh 50A CDR (no longer in production)

Orbtronic 26650 5200mah 20A CDR

* Note that the Panasonic/Orbtronic 18650A (3200 mah) and 18650B (3400 mah)
have less than 7 amp CDR and are not recommended for use in today's modern APV's.
These were designed to be used for only low drain applications like flashlights.
