IMO - buy a manual battery kit. If you refill cartos then they might drip occasionally on the end of the battery, right where an auto battery has its drag sensor. If you already ordered auto, just be extra careful when adding juice to cartos. Everyone should take cartos off the battery for adding juice but an auto battery user needs to be extra sure the carto is not going to drip, make sure the center air channel is clear of juice and no juice is pooled above the stuffing.

Re how long one lasts? 4-7 days and sometimes longer if you keep it damp. If you run a carto dry you can singe the stuffing and ruin it for refilling. Your own juice usage is something you will have to figure out - depends on the size and frequency of your drags. Guestimate 1.5-3ml per day unless you start vaping constantly.

And read the reviews on the prefilled cartos and juices. So far of the V4L stuff I've tried
Wowbacco - a very dark chocolate tobacco (WOW is the same w/ some mint added) - I love Wowbacco
WOW Vanilla - a rich sweet marshmallowy vanilla - I usually refill with my Backwoods Brew Vanilla Bean
Premium Vanilla - eh
French Vanilla Ice Cream - not bad, I prefer my Backwoods Brew Vanilla Bean
WOW 555 - strong nutty and sweet

In general I like their WOW juices better but their Coolcarts better (I buy Coolcart blanks there).

i haven't ordered yet that's why i'm bugging folks now. i chose the V4L starter kit based on tons of reading on this site (excellent resource BTW). i'm looking at getting the 555 carts. so if i get the manual battery there's less chance of dmg to the stuffing. since i'm still on the pack a day analog shtick, (i smoke the 100's red (any brand that cheap lol)) then i'm guessing the 24mg would suffice for my needs. i'm hoping to wean down on the nicotine so i plan on lower my intake so i shouldn't be vaping constantly. thanks for all the info. i may just go with the manual instead of the auto. and thanks for the run down on flavors i'll definitely keep those in mind :)

There are two big advantages to a manual battery. First, it doesn't go off when you don't want it to and it does go off when you do. Second, the manual battery doesn't have a hole on top. So, when you screw up and overfill one of those cartos and you will, it won't leak into the hole and ruin the battery.

Personally, I'd really rather see you go with something with a longer battery life an eGo/Riva. Something like that.

You might be asking a couple of things with: 'how long does a carto last?'

For me, a freshly-filled carto lasts about an hour to an hour and a half. You should take this as an absolute minimum since I usually chain vape (stick PV in mouth, puff as often as I feel like, remove only when carto is empty).

How long a physical carto will last, as far as being refillable and reused -- I think you can expect your first ones to die rather quickly. There's a learning curve, and until you master the sense of when the carto is going dry, you're going to burn some up. Once they have a burnt taste, they're done for -- short of tearing it apart and replacing the wicking and filler, there's no way to revive them.

I have one carto that's been in use since December. I have others that I've burnt to death the first time I used them. An average, for me, is about a dozen refills, with a soaking and washing in iso alcohol after about every third filling.

Unlike others, I suggest the automatics. I've used the manuals, and they're just too clumsy and too spotty.

Unfortunately, vaping is totally a "your mileage may vary" situation -- what one person loves, you may hate, and vice versa; how long a carto or battery lasts for one person is far different from how long it lasts for someone else.

My only suggestion is to dive in, paddle around for a while, and find out what you like and don't like about your first PV and use that experience when selecting your next PV. I know very few people who stayed with their first PV (including me -- I tried some gas station disposables, then bought a Blu, and am now perfectly happy with my 808s).

Actually KR8 manuals do have a hole on top but they are not dependent on a drag sensor in there the way autos are. I wish they were totally sealed.

Having manual batteries does not help your stuffing in any way - it keeps the batteries from turning on accidentally is wind or vibration and they are safer from getting killed by drips.

BTW - some people find 24mg Vapor4life overly strong because it's a nice warm hit. You might want to try one sample pack of 18mg too.

yeah i was looking at the 24mg carts and the 18mg juice for refills. that way i could kinda get an idea where exactly i should be on the old nicotine meter ;)

as tempting as the "wow" carts sound, a lot of people including myself prefer the coolcarts. they hold more liquid and don't burn as hot. with the wowcarts, they heat up way too quick, burn liquid way too fast, and wear out quicker. their 555 is pretty good but they never have the liquid in stock, only the pre-filled carts. i get my juice elsewhere for that reason, but i still buy my carts from them.

oh yeah and the average life of a coolcart for me has been at least a week if you don't let it dry up.

that kit comes with a PCC. just out of curiosity can you shoot me a link to a comparable starter kit for the eGo/Riva? i took a look at the NHaler website but it's not very well organized to a Noob like me.

Yeah it does. I got tangled up between the ultimate and the ultimate ultimatum kit.

They're out of them at Liberty Flights. So, I'm sending you to litecig for the kit.

This kit

and at Liberty Flights:
Some Boge 2 ohm 510 cartomizers
and a 510 drip tip

You'll need to get some juice. Get small quantities at differing nic levels and flavors. You'll probably need about 3ml per day so get enough to last till you can order again.
