Do they still produce vapor when they are empty or very near?? I use the cartomizers from V4L and it seems they get warm to the touch and have a bit of a burned flavor after I've used them a while. They still produce vapor, it just tastes a little burned. These carts were prefilled.

Thanks!

They will still produce vapor because the cartomizer still has some liquid in it. However not enough and some of the filler is burning. Time to stop and refill, or if you don't refill then it's time to switch to a new prefilled cart. The key to making carto's last a long time is to refill way before you get burning taste/smell

I agree. I put 20 drops in my 510 carto and then add 5 drops or so after each hour of vaping. If it starts getting warm, take a break and add a couple of drops. Pre-filled are ok for beginners but try to find some liquids you like and get some empty cartos. Trust me, it is well worth it.

PS - consider a BOGE soft cap carto. It is much easier to refill. I get mine from litecigusa.net. Tell Shawn I sent you.

Thanks. When I started I was afraid of filling my own so I ordered tons of different flavored carts from V4L. I've discovered how easy it is to fill now, just waiting for juice to come in the mail. As far as the prefilled carts I have that are dried up, is there a way to clean them so I don't have to order more blank carts?? I wouldn't want a lingering flavor mixing with other flavors I'm filling with.

There are many methods of cleaning cartomizers. You can find them with a simple search. I generally run them under very hot water and repeatedly blow them out, blowing with the battery end towards the sink and the other end in my mouth. I will do this several times till any color is gone or smell. Afterward I will let them soak in vodka, I only have 80 proof right now, pure grain alcohol would be better but I can't buy it in ny. After a few hours of soaking, a few more blowing out sessions in between. I will let them dry out overnight and they are ready to be filled with another liquid. I will mention that some flavors like menthol or mint maybe cinnamon can't be removed no matter how much you do.

you can boil them or the last technique I ran across was using a bulb syringe. Whether that'll get the original flavor out completely I don't know but if you intend to use them again it's worth a shot. If you're going to fill them with a similar flavor though I wouldn't bother as the transition shouldn't be that noticeable or even if it is shouldn't be bad.

Actually, while it is difficult to remove menthol flavors (I haven't tried cinnamon, so I'm not sure with that one), it isn't impossible. Boiling cartos for several 15 mins. sessions and rinsing in between will remove it. However, with boiling, you do run the risk of decreasing cartomizer performance. My guess at what happens is that the filler becomes less porous and the juice doesn't soak in as well and wick properly like it used to. I found that on the cartos that this happened to, if I messed around with a safety pin, poking and fluffing the filler a bit, they went back to working pretty well.

If you are burning your filling in the carto, best to toss them and get a new one. Burnt filler can linger if even with a refill of juice. Scorched, you can get around, burnt is just a toss. The second you get a burning flavor, it's time to top off. Don't even wait a couple of puffs, just top off. This way they last tons longer, and you aren't burning up your investment.

Refilling your carts is super simple easy to do! Just pop off the top and drop by drop fill it till it looks squishy inside. Not a pond, not a lake, squishy. You replace the top and off you go again :) I have a big paper clip I use normally, but if I don't have that, I can just pop off the top with my fingers, and use anything straight and long to pull out the rubber o-ring looking thingy.
Are 20-23 drops for an empty carto, and 5-10 (depending on how empty it is) on refills.

Cleaning is just as easy. Pop off the tops and pull out the o-rings. Boil them 2-3 times in 5-10 min increments, rinse out real well, then blow them out and let them dry over the next day or so. pop the tops back on and you are done :)

Maintenance your battery as well by cleaning off the threads, and the interior ring.
