I have only used the 510, but from what I have heard cartomizers are the atomizer and cartridge as all one piece. How much do these cost? One of the reasons I don' think I would ever try cartomizers is because I am clumsy and I drop things a lot. For me, I basically have 4 levels of what to do next if I drop my e-cigarette as far as cartridge cleanliness goes. 1. Do nothing, and put it right back in my mouth with no cleaning. Only a few places I will do that, like my living room or bedroom floor.
2. Do the most likely useless but makes you feel better shirt wipe and then put it back in your mouth. We can all think of a few circumstances where this would be needed.
3. Clean with alcohol or some other solution if you are low on carts and can't afford to lose one until you get some more in the mail. This method I will use if I drop it outdoors, but away from a heavy public presence or in public but clean place.
4. There are certain places where I have dropped my ecig that no amount of cleaning will ever get me to put it back in my mouth, like the floor of a public restroom, the plant floor at work, and other heavily trafficked public areas. In these cases cartridge goes straight to the garbage, even if it were possible to kill all the germs, it's a mental thing.

So with me dropping the ecig all the time, I think I would be wasting a lot of money throwing away atomizers with cartomizers.

Prices of cartomizers vary, For instance at vaper4life blank ones start at 8.95 for a box of 5. Different shops have different prices. You may be able to get them in bulk from some places. But it sounds like blank ones are not for you unless you would refill them yourself.

I have only found that I like the taste of 2 cartomizers so far, the ones from vapor4life and the 510 soft cartomizers from inhaler.

With the cartomizer you would need an adaptor for your 510, but they will also fit on 901's or you can get the new soft tip 510 cartomizers.

Either way if you are worried about dropping them and wasting money then just stay with regular carts.
