Greetings all,
I have recently acquired a Clouper T5 Mod.
I am happy with its size and general construction but what seems to get to me is the rate of discharge of the battery as it seems to be a power hungry beast.
I am using the strongest battery I can get my hands on a Sony US18650VTC4 2100 MAH and I have also tried Efest IMR 1860 3100 Mah battery. I use the Sony Batteries in my SYM180S God Mod (3 Batteries) and have no problem maintaing their charge for almost three days when vaping at 25W but using only one Sony in the Clouper I am lucky to get a day out of it at the same settings.

I have also tried the Innokin SV2 and although it is also power hungry, I can get a day and a half out of the Sony battery. Have others tried the Clouper T5 and do they also have the same problem. There was some sort of software upgrade available for this Mod from clouper.com but that has disappeared and also any references to this mod.

I am totally mystified as to why this mod performs this way. I have other mods, the Acer 50W Hanna DNA 30, Several of the Ijoy series, (low power) however my favourite remains the Eleaf 30W as it is good as a pass through as well in general overall performance and the Eleaf with only a 2200 mah battery lasts the distance I expect. I am awaiting the delivery of an Eleaf 50W and see what that will be like. The tank I favour is the Kangartek Sub Ohm tank and I operate either on a 0.8 ohm coil or at the most 1.5 ohm coils.

Thank you for an anticipated reply

    No you can't
I had a T5 before I upgraded the firmware which by the way - don't do it. Yes it eats up the battery it's the just what it does your get about 200-250 puff out of it, your just going to have to live with it. Gave a nice vape though, pain putting in fresh battery but can be charged directly from wall outlet but it's not a pass thru device.

The T5 was not a very good mod overall (a lot of vapers I know call it the "black stain" of Clouper mods).

One of the interesting things is it has a 10A limit as most other 50W mods have 16A limit. Tho this leaves you with way more battery options; find a battery with at least 10A CDR (continues discharge rate) that has the highest mah rating you can find and that should help extend battery life.

Speaking from my experience with 50W mods; if you can get a day out of it that's crazy good IMHO as on all my 50W mods I couldn't get more than 4 hours of use running 3.7V-4.2V / 20W-30W with .5Ω-1.2Ω.

Also note that you said you are getting about the same life from 1 Sony in the t5 as you are from 3 Sony in the god mod (1 battery 1day 3batteries 3days).

Myself now have an IPV3 and when I use my subtanks on it at 20-30W I get 1 day from the 2 batteries in it but compared to the 4 hours from the 50W mods with a single battery (same brand and model I use in my IPV3) I'm getting 3-4 times (12-16hours) longer vape time from it.

Thank you, I also heard that the firmware upgrade was a definite no do. An aquaintance of mine did so and had massive drama with overheating problems. I also note that my mod emits a very hot vape at even low watt setting and I find it unpleasant to use. The firmware upgrade you mention, I think I said has disapeared from the manufacurer's site and so has the mod.

I do not think I will bother any more with this mod and go back to my SMY 180S or my Ace 50.

Again thank you for the reply.

I am not a heavy vaper, and yes on my Smy 180S I get far better performance by way of battery duration charge than I have had on any other Mod I played with. I am very happy with the SMY180S and no I have not explored it to its full capability. One day maybe.

    No problem.

    I wouldn't mind having a T5 as a spare mod but I wouldn't use it daily.

But I would like to say that you may want to reconsider Segilei products as they are great devices. I fell in love with the 100+ and 150 for the battery life and overall quality but being broke I had to take what I could get (traded a couple other mods for an IPV3)

Just wanted to let you know I talked to my friend that used a T5 for quite a while and he said the best battery for it is the Panasonic NCR18650BD 3200mAh.
It has 10A CDR so it has enough for the T5 requirements and has the most mah you can get. He said he got almost 2x the battery life than he did with a 3100mah efest.

    Food for thought.

Hot vape is high wattage setting bring it down or open air vents if there on your tank.

I'll go into some detail on my experience with it.
    1. I like it a lot but because of the size it always stayed home.
    2. I used sony V4 batteries got a full days vape out of them and anywhere up to 350 puffs which wasn't that bad, the trick is to use low ohm coils and vape at lowest enjoyable setting. Higher wattage setting will eat up the battery fast.
    3. Batteries charge better in charger then through device.

I can't put the device down it's a very nice piece of gear, I do put coupler down for the way they handled the firmware upgrade and just bad customer service and support.

If there weren't better device out on the market NOW for less price and I wanted another device I would buy it again. It looks neat, big buttons, big screen -really nice and well built and came with extra screws. It's just the firmware caused damage.

You got a nice device there but not the greatest because better ones came out and come out every week.
I really can't say nothing bad about it. I can't blame the device for the manufacturer screwing up the firmware.

I dropped it to 8 watts and it was still running hot vape and the Kangar Sub Ohm Tank vents were wide open

Yep and when you try to talk to them by email or skype they totally ignore you

Very true, everyone that did the upgrade ruined their mod

Yes well some people collect butterflies and stamps I collect mods and e-pipes but not all that into the high wattage range. I rarely exceed 35W

    Got some idea's for you.

That's not a step down device, it's a step up device, with a fresh battery -

    4.2 V x 4.2V = 17.64 div by ohms 2.0 = 8.82 watts
    4.2 V x 4.2V = 17.64 div by ohms 1.5 = 11.76 watts

If your a chain vaper try letting the device rest longer in between puffs.

    Take shorter puffs.

What ohm coil are you using with your Kangar Sub Ohm Tank ?
