With battery mods being pretty much the norm and with rebuildable atomizers, why are we still using the regular connectors (510, 801 etc...) ive been doing some research in order to make my first rebuildable atty and it seems i can get almost everything in local stores except of course the 510 connector, is there a good reason other than "well you need those connectors to use regular attys, cartos, etc", what if i made my own atty and just connected it to a battery mod designed to fit this particular rebuildable atty of mine? would i be making a mistake? is the connector needed for something critical? will a battery mod holding a battery connected to a switch which in turn is directly connected to the terminals holding the nic wire and wick not work out?

As a little background, i used to vape and managed to quit completely, now im craving some 0 nic vapor and all these rebuildables mods are totally new to me, back then the Chuck (as the one i have) was all the rage hehe no ohms, no LR/HR, VV talk, at least to my knowledge :p hehe, sucks that i cant post anywhere else oh well...

Any input is deeply appreciated, thank you.

Heck. If you are rolling your own and can find enough good parts for the connectors you are wanting to use more power to you.
The reason that that you would want to be buying, say 510s is because there are a lot of batter, mod, cartos, addies and tanks.
So you can buy more off the shelf stuff that "Just works".
If you are doing your own thing though that is not as much of an issue.

Thanks for replying :)

I understand now, i just had that small doubt and didnt wanted to get started on building one if it was doomed to fail for something i ignored and could easily learn, just for the record im not even thinking in a connector piece, its more along the lines of a chuck design sans the connector, the swich would go directly to the pins holding the wire, saving space and making the mod sturdier and more simple in its workings not even worrying about leaking juice into the battery, i managed to get something quick in GIMP, hopefully im not that much horrible at drawing :):

You can use just about anything to make the connection and fire the atty. it's the air flow that is the problem. it's easy to make an atty fire up.

You can buy 510 connectors or others at madvapes.

510 - Connectors - DIY Parts

This place rocks. When I was way big into making mods years ago (around when the Chuck came out) I had them on speed dial.

Edit, make sure to buy the battery connector not the atty connector.

I think you missed the point by a wee little 18sixfifty xD, i was talking about no connector at all. Battery case and bottom of atty would be part of a single piece, still thanks for the info, and i agree wholeheartedly, Mark was my goto seller when i was starting and his service was great specially for a newbie like me back then, im still thinking on ordering something from him now that im back into vaping but that will have to wait a bit since i loaned my dear Chuck to a uncle a couple of states away from my location, as soon as i have my Chuck i think ill try a CE2 just so that i can make that soderless modding to turn it into a RCT.

Thanks for your input mate :).
