Question About Ethyl Maltol Crystals

I dissolved some Ethyl Maltol Crystals from High Desert Vapes in PG to the point of saturation, and added enough VG to make a 30% 70% pg/vg solution. It has a faint medicine taste when I vape it. Is there something wrong, or do I need to let it steep? Trying to replicate Ecopure from Intellicig... It apparently has no other ingredients than EM. Any insight is much appreciated.

I bought my EM from TPA through wizard labs and I find the same thing, that I get a medicinal or maybe to my senses more of a chemical taste. I made a 10% solution of the crystals and have tried it in several mixes. I do not get any sweetness. My batch is over three weeks old and I tried some plane today, just added my 10% PG em to a carto, it produced plumes of vapor and after several puffs the irritating flavor went away, but the vapor is much richer.. still no sweetness to me. I read on hoosier blog that some people are sensitive to it and will taste sweetness at as low as 0.5% and others ( I think I am one of these) are resistant to it and will never taste sweetness from it.

Maybe you are a resistant one to it as well.

Looks to me like you are saying that you're vaping a slightly diluted EM flavoring solution, which would be far too strong...

Anyway, with EM fully saturated in PG, I'd probably only add around 3% of that solution into a mix for good flavor.

Generally, a 'chemical' taste is what people use to describe a mix that has too much flavoring. Sounds like that may be the case here.

Thanks Proverb, since I am a nubee, I don't exactly know how you make a 10% solution of EM; add 1ml of the crystals to 9ml of Pg? How do you measure 1ml of crystals, by eye balling it? Sorry for the dumb question ....
