Hi all,

I have done a lot of searching of this forum (and elsewhere) in recent days trying to get up to speed on how to make this ecig thing work. Though I've learned a lot, I still feel unclear about a few things.

I just recevied my frist e-cig kit, a joye ego.:)

I also purchased some juice from freedom smoke usa and have decided to use a drip method so as to avoid potential health risks with the polyfill.

The main thing I need clarity on right now is how much juice I should plan to use every day. I know there are several threads related to this, but as I've looked over them, I've only gotten more confused (I've absorbed a lot of info in the last few days, maybe I'm overloaded...plus, I gotta quit surfing and get back to work!).

Here are some facts about me:
ecig: joye ego
juice: Freedom Smoke, American Spirit, 30mg, 10 ml
Method: Dripping
Prior analog use: varied between 1/2 pack 1 pack a day.
Prior Analog Brand: American Spirit Lights

For starters, I still don't understand the ratio of juice quantity to cigarette quantity. I do understand that this is dependent on 1) the type of analog cig being referenced and 2) the strength of juice being used. But what is the most straightforward way to determine this?

Also, my understanding is that "drops" can be an inefficient/inconsistent unit of measurement since different droppers drop different quantities, and different users may squeeze harder/lighter than others. So, what is the best way to know how much you are using?

I've also heard that it can be useful to use slightly more nicotine than usual when switching from analogs (to compensate for the other things one is addicted to in cigarettes that are not in ecigs). How much more?

When its all said and done, I just want to be able to wake up and say: "OK, if I use "x" many drops today of "x" juice, that's going to basically equal "x" many analog cigarettes (american spirit lights in this case).

Though less important, I'm also curious about the amount of nicotine per puff with an ecig vs. an analog. I've heard that there is a difference, and that it is dependent on variables like: 1) the type of ecig used 2) the type of battery used 3) the type of juice used. What is the most straightforward way to figure this out?

Thanks in advance the help. I trust that as things like this become clearer, I won't feel like I have a new part time job managing my smoking habit!! :?:

best

pretty sure drippers use more juice -- standard rate for a moderate vaper is around 3ml a day, so if you drip, at 30mg, I'd say about 2-3ml a day -- could be that you'd want to go with 18mg though because that seems more suited to someone at 0.5-1packs a day than 30mg -- 30mg is probably more for people who smoked over a pack, but hey -- bottom line is it's probably just gonna take time for you to figure out what works for you

here's a rough calculation though -- let's say a cigarette has 2mg of nicotine (that you actually receive) -- with a 30mg juice, if you drip 3 drops each time you vape, that's about 4.5mg of nicotine for those three drops, but from what I've heard you only get about 10% of that (?), which would mean you'd get 0.45 mg (?) -- I do know it hits you slower and doesn't have as high a level in your blood as when you smoke, so you might need to vape twice for each 'cigarette' you crave, but since it lasts longer in your bloodstream, you can do it less frequently than you would crave a cigarette

EDIT: actually what the hell do I know -- those numbers might be totally wrong, I'm gonna have to study up

according to answers.com, "American cigarettes contain about 9 mg of nicotine, but because much of the nicotine is burned off, a smoker gets about 1 mg of nicotine in every cigarette."

assuming you get 1mg of nic in a cigarette, and given there are 20 drops in a milliliter -- at 30mg per milliliter, 3 drops would supposedly equal 4.5mg of nicotine.... so supposedly one three-drop drip session is like smoking 4.5 cigarettes??

I don't know what posts exactly I heard of the 10% nicotine from vaping thing, but it was multiple posts -- that seems to be the case, because I vape 30mg quite heavily sometimes and don't see how it's possible that I'm getting 4.5x the nicotine of a cigarette from 1/3 the number of puffs

makes more sense with the 10% thing, because that'd mean in order to get the same nic as a cigarette you'd have to vape 6-8 drops, which based on how much people are vaping sounds more right
