I currently use an KR808 D1 but I'm considering buying an eGO or Joye 510 because I'm finding that after boiling my cartomizers they don't seem to work very well, its like trying to suck-start a Harley (no, I've never tried, but I'm imagining), I've even used little GUM brushes to try to get any gunk out of them but to no avail. Also my KR808 batteries seem to get weak fast and have a short "draw time" (sorry I'm not hip on all the terms yet.) So I've been looking into the 510 with cartridges and from what I understand the attys are really the only thing to replace on those and they go out maybe after a month or 4? If I got one with 5 cartridges I could just rinse them and/or replace the polyfill but they would potentially last forever? Is that correct?

Also, on the eGO, it comes with 2 attys but says you can also use them with certain cartos, so how would you assemble the thing without the atty? Just screw a carto on where the atty would normally go?

Lastly, on the eGO or the Joye 510, is there a limited drag time where it cuts off after 5 seconds or anything like that, I hate getting cut off mid-drag.

Any help would be appreciated, I'm driving myself batty searching all over the forum.

Using a cartomizer on eGo, you are right, it just screws in were the atomizer would go.

You can use any eGo or 510 cartomizer on your eGo. (Same threads)

The only eGos I am familiar with are manuals, so no, there is no cut-off. Generally an easier draw than an auto battery, but you can increase the draw a bit by using the cone. (or leave the cone off if you like the lighter draw)

Hoosier, thanks for the info. So would 5 or 10 cartridges potentially last forever if I just bought my own polyfill and replaced that? It seems to basically be a piece of plastic with some polyfill in it?

Just to make sure here... A carto, or cartomizer is the atty and cartridge in one piece. A cart, or cartridge, goes in the atty, holds filler saturated with juice and has to be sized for the atty. (Mega attys with mega carts, standard carts with LR attys or standard attys.) Attys also come with cartridges that just need filler to be usable.

10 seconds cut-off on eGo batteries my friend. Try it.

Hoosier is right....sometimes a cart will melt a little...and need to be replaced, but you can buy 10 of them for about $3.00 so it's no problem at all. Also, an empty cart always comes with a new atty (atomizer) and you can put polyfil in them, so you will always have carts. The real thing you'll have to think about and eventually replace is the atomizer. They last, like you said, anywhere from a week to several months....you just never know. With the KR808, the cartomizers are fairly inexpensive....5 for about $8.00. On the 510 or the eGo, the atomizers last longer, but they can cost about $8.00 each. That's the big difference.

Also.....the Joye 510 has a little battery....smaller even than the KR808. On the other hand, the eGo has a bigger battery (in size AND power) and will last and last.....5-8 hours each charge. If you're going to buy a 510....get an eGo 510. They're not much higher priced than a regular 510, and they're MUCH better. Right now liberty-flights has a 510 Riva kit for $29.95. The Riva is almost exactly like an eGo...but it has a little more powerful battery, and it's made by a different manufacturer. That's an incredible price, and many, many people on here will tell you that the Riva is a great pv. They are getting snatched up fast. You can't beat the price, and I'll guarantee you that you will love it. At least I sure love mine. I have an eGo and a Riva, and I like them both equally. If you get a regular 510 with the small batteries, the battery life is bad. A battery will last maybe an hour before it needs to be charged. You'll be constantly charging batteries and will need to have about 3 or 4 in rotation all the time. I've had all of them and that's been my experience. Here's the link to the liberty flights deal: Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

Got it, yeah I meant that my cartomizers don't work well after I try to clean them so I'm aiming for something that will be cheaper in the long run and I think the cartridge will be the answer (as long as I don't melt them!). I have plenty of juice but nothing to put the juice in because all my cartomizers are basically worthless after I've cleaned them.

Do the attys last a while on the Rivas, too? And are they easy to find? I'm worried that I won't know which atty to buy for which battery or that I won't be able to find the right atty. Do the Rivas basically use any 510 cart and/or carto?

A Riva is like an eGo. Batteries are a little bigger, generally, but the threads are the same.

IIRC the attys that come with the Riva have the cone as part of the atty, but that particular style of atty is not required.

Just a note, the Rivas cone and atty are separate, it comes with a standard 510 atty, you're probably thinking about the Hello.

Sorry about the 20 questions, just want to get something I'll be happy with for a long time, and something thats easy to find attys and carts for.

Either should suit you fine in that regard and both will be easy to find attys and carts for since they both are 510 compatible.

You're right. I went out to look at them and saw that. Yeah, I must be thinking of the Hello 016.

Either my memory is going or going over song lists with the fiance is distracting more than I thought. (She sings like an angel, but doesn't remember lyrics real well, so I have to tell her what some songs she thinks are pretty are not really about what she thinks they are. She just read the lyrics to Tender is the Night and was amazed by what it was really about so took she it off the list. Sigh)

I was a smoker for a long time, probably couldn't take a 21 second drag if I wanted to, so I can deal with that! I'm not sure what the cut off time is on my KR808 D1 but seems like maybe 5 seconds, which irritates me.

I can. Just don't use an eGo. Happen to have one sitting around to test out though.

(Use The Precious with and 18650 high drain battery connected to a LR Joye510 atty. I know I've drawn too long when I pop the atty.)

So if I buy a Rivas or an eGO then I basically just look for any cartridge and atty that say they're 510 compatible and they'll work fine without messing up anything?

Too funny! My hubby sings really loud and never knows the lyrics so he puts a random word in place of what really belongs, drives me insane! But he does sing well, if he could just get the words right I wouldn't mind listening to him so much! On that one country song by Carrie Underwood it says "I carved my name into his leather seats" and he constantly sings "I carved my name into his legacy." He will not stop although I've corrected him many times....
