Some of the fruity flavors I have taste great at first, but after vaping for a while (say, chain vaping for an hour), they tend to taste a little perfumy. Is this because I'm chain vaping (really, I can empty a tank pretty fast) or do some juices just do this? I'm thrilled that my sense of taste is slowly coming back and that the sweet flavors are starting to taste like something, but this is a little disturbing. I've been just switching tanks to another flavor until the new flavor does it, too. What are your thoughts on this? Is it my taste buds still being wonky, my chain vaping, or the nature of juices? Thanks!

I also am wondering if anyone has any advice on juice flavors that aren't so sweet. I want to avoid tobacco flavors, because I am over cigarettes completely. I don't like coffee. I know FSUSA has baby back ribs (tempted to try that), but are there fruit flavors out there that aren't cloyingly sweet after chain vaping for an hour? I know, I'm asking a lot. Thanks!

I went that route too. Sweet got too sweet and that might be what you're experiencing. I settled with some Decadent Vapour flavors - Habana Reserve (despite the name, there is no tobacco absolute in it - made of about 20 herbs and spices), Absinthe - you have to like licorice for that one, Ylang Ylang - it's a flower but not flowery and not all that sweet. I DIY using the DV flavorings.

You might also run some unflavored PG or VG (not 100% VG but a 80:20 mix with distilled water) through the tanks which tends to clean them and the atty out.

Thanks, Kent. I'll look into those flavors. I love that I can taste the sweet flavors now (had absolutely no sense of taste all last week), but I need a break. Those sound interesting. I'll be sure to get some unflavored PG/VG, as well.

You can do your taste buds in by chain vaping ... certain substances in juices can be whammy'ing things up too.

Also, certain juices are stronger tasting due to those substances.

ie: In my experience, I have overdone it with the cinamon candy type flavors (Cinnabomb or AtomiCinacide) which really have strong distinctive flavor (and cinamon oil which is very powerful and can cause some irritations to mouth in "excess").

If you are numbed out by consistent vaping, try some of one of those and you will still really taste it. These mix with fruit really well too.

I had to give it up due to mouth irritations and I have learned to vary flavors as well as take breaks to let my taste buds regroup...heheh.

I suggest a pure menthol juice... i like VB Arctic Ice (which is just a menthol-ish vape and no tobacco flavor) to change things up too. I use it to clear my palate as well as clear out the taste of a juice from my atty...eventually the prior juice taste will leave and then I can start a new flavor... it's like a transistion juice into the next, using the same atty... this also goes well with fruit flavors btw, and actually just about any kind of flavor.

Oh, and i think it's important to say that the better juice vendors which may cost a tad more, are less likely to have that perfumey taste.... but not always... it's challenging to find good (to you) juices.

Can't help you with juices that aren't too sweet, since I like sweet juices (probably sickly sweet for a lot of people) and strong flavor (I generally order 2x flavor).

But fruit juices - I have tried so many of them. I thought I would really like fruit flavors. I was looking for fruit flavors that tasted like candy. The only fruit flavor that I have found decent is banana. Every other fruit flavor I have ordered tasted like fruit + perfume. I just couldn't deal with the perfume flavor. I even let them steep to see if it would dissipate - nope.

Let me change what I said about not so sweet flavors - if you like fruit, you might want to try banana and coconut. I ordered them from FSUSA (2x flavor). I like their coconut, but didn't care for the banana (not gross, just kind of "meh"). Neither were overly sweet. I ordered banana and coconut from Velvet Vapors and both were excellent and not overly sweet (IMO - but I like mine pretty sweet, so take that for what its worth).

I tend to chain vape in the evenings and/or overnights (like tonight when I can't sleep - not that the chain vaping is helping me sleep - LOL). But I tend to change flavors every so often between about 4 different flavors. If you change from one fruit to another, does the new one have the perfume taste? What if you quit vaping for 15, 30 or 60 min and return to it. Do they still have the perfume taste? It would be a good experiment to see if it is the juice or your taste buds changing with the extended vape sessions.

Ukeman, I have a few different menthols, so I will give those a try for a while. I do keep hearing about how great the cinnamon flavors are, so I guess I should try one of those, as well. I should probably buy some of the pricier juices and see if the perfumy issue goes away. It's horrible to be thinking I'm in yummy heaven one minute and feel like I'm drinking a bottle of perfume the next. Thank you for your advice! I think that constantly chain vaping sweet flavors is probably a bad idea. It's making me not want to eat dessert, though, so that's a good thing! LOL

I'm a huge chain vaper. It's even in my title! I switch flavors back and forth sometimes when my taste buds become accustomed to the flavor. Your taste buds are probably still a little wonky and your sense of smell is, too. Taste is as much about smell as it is anything else. If you have a stuffy or runny nose, your sense of taste will diminish and can sometimes seem to disappear altogether. You could also go through what I've started calling "flavor cycling." Everything tastes great and you're really enjoying it and then it seems like your taste buds go on strike. It usually only lasts a day or two, and sometime switching flavors helps. A lot of us go through it.

You can also try letting your juice "steep." Just leave it alone for a couple of days (sometimes more depending on the juice) with the cap on it. This lets the flavors develop and can improve the taste. I do a lot of DIY and some flavors are delicious right away, but they're "OMG Decadent" after sitting for a few days.

AnaCat, i am new to vaping, about a month, i make my own juice, have you tried brandy flavored ejuice or rum, if you dont want to vape sweet flavors try switching to beverage flavors, there are a lot of sites listen on ECF from where you purchase juices. personally i love banana ejuice, i make it so it tastes like banana nut bread.

I'm like you - I don't like coffee at all and am so over tobacco. So far I've been sticking to vanilla, cherry, blackberry, raspberry..I'm finding the cherry and raspberry a bit harsh ~ the others are okay. Last week I had the opportunity to try Organic Japanese Plum from VapeRite and found that it was wonderful ~ really fresh and clear tasting and just the tiniest bit of sweetness. I think I'll be placing an order soon.

Came to forum today to get ideas for DIY and glad I read your post about steeping. Thank you. One thing I found is that although I smoked menthol all those years I really prefer the other flavors. Even the Dunhill flavor is really nice and it is non menthol.

Ok I love real bananas... But hate the artificial banana flavors. Has anyone found one that has no fakey banana flave? I started out w/ tobacco flaves from perfect e cig dot com English Tobacco is my ultimate fave so far & my cherry balsam is nice. Checking out a different vendor & more fruit this week in a lower mg too. been feeling a bit flakey after chain vaping. *lol*
