I'm really enjoying vaping, and also enjoying the gadgetry aspect of it. Thinking of getting another battery or mod to have a backup, and don't really know what I'm looking for. My MVP and EGO style battery that I have are self contained, but it looks like if I got one of the cool looking mods I'd also need to get batteries and a charger.

I really like the looks of the Hammer style mod and the Tesla. Any advice, or direct me to a thread where the basics are covered, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

"Mod" is an ambiguous term, now days it seems anything that isn't a cigalike or an ego style battery is referred to as a 'mod'.
The Tesla is a regulated VV/VW APV with built in safety features. amp limit, battery over discharge, short protection ect.
Hammer is a mechanical, with no safety features other than the one between the users ears.

A mechanical requires the user to have a reliable accurate way to check battery voltage & delivery device resistance, the regulated apv has built in battery & ohm checker.
Both require the appropriate batteries and charger.

Welcome gonzobean. U are at the right place to learn all there is to know about vaping. my suggestion to you is to spend a good deal of time just searching through the info on this site. One of the very first things I suggest if u plan to venture into mechanical mods is to read up on battery safety. Very very important for your own health. Past that it's mostly just a quest to find the equipment that takes you where u want to go.
