Question about popping draws

I'm relatively new to the world of rebuildables (only a month or so of experience) and my newest issue seems to be the atty/coils seem to pop when I draw on it. This situation is not to be confused with the coil popping and no longer working, instead, everything is working fine, it continues to hit ok its just that while puffing on it it feels like its popping or mini explosions as the liquid is being heated. I was under the impression that when the topic of "popping coils" has been brought up in various threads folks are referring to the coil actually popping and needing to be changed out entirely. Even after I pull my mouth away from it it will continue to pop sometimes for a second.

Can anyone explain this to me, what am I doing wrong, &/or how to fix it?

(Not that I think it matters but I'm using an orion 2.1 with kanthal 28 gauge 5/6 wraps, no hot spots @ 1.3-1.4 ohms)

just another thing to add... it almost sounds like I'm eating pop-rocks while I'm vaping. It's just odd & annoying.

It's just high the wattage boiling your e-liquid off the coil, nothing wrong with it.
It will tame down once the coil gets some buildup on it.
I used to get lots of popping juice with my 1.5 ohm or less coils, and it kinda freaked me out at first, being on an unvented PV, so I changed to 1.7 ohm and higher coils.
I kinda miss it sometimes, though...

ETA: Try increasing the resistance (more wraps or thinner gauge kanthal) or lowering the voltage/wattage on your device (if its variable).

Thank you! I found the other factor could be tension on the wick & the happy medium between tight & loose coils. I definitely LOVE 1.2-ish ohms whether it be 3/4 wraps of 30AWG or 5/6 wraps of 28. I guess the popping also means I'm wicking like mad so at least I had that going for me.

i also vape at lower ohms, 28g kanthal 5 wraps and 0.08 to 1.0 ohms. before using 500 mesh i never heard any of that popping sound. now using the 500 mesh i do hear that sound. also when i switched to the 500 mesh i have rolled up the wick alot tighter as well. so i think it is the sound of the mesh wicking up maybe. i am not exactly sure but i kind of like it though. right now i am popping on my DID a 0.08 coil@ 3.1 volts and loving it.
