Question about putting together a wall-powered mod

I want to do something similar to what was done in this thread:

But curious if I could just add a dial like this one:
500W SCR AC 220V Electronic Voltage Regulator Motor Speed Controller Controls Thermostat Dimmer with Switch

Ideally put a voltage led on there so you can see what its putting out and then you could just go from there.
Part two would be figuring out if it was possible to run 2 atomizers off that setup by just setting up two parallel setups inside a case and have the button and connector come off the power input.

That's an AC power regulator outputting AC. That may not matter, but it's not really what you want. You want to hook it up to 220V??????

Look for a more appropriate one for vaping needs. 110v AC to DC and lower voltages output with .1 stepping.
1) You'd need to be able to dial it down low enough.
2) You'd need a button to activate the coil.
3) The button should have a power FET so you don't fry the button. It will cause a voltage drop, but since you are using some wider range vv supply it's just a delta.
4) I'd put a fuse in line too so you don't drop it in the sink or something and ...wow.
5) You'd want a connector, I'd assume, so you can separate the power supply from the main body...just for maintenance and switch-ability options in the future.
6) Get a 110 volt one. You don't need to play with 220v anyway. Anything that outputs less than 50v would be preferred. Check the amp rating, particularly if doing SLR.
7) Accuracy to a 10th of a volt may be an issue, particularly for something that is designed to have a wide range.
8) In general, not a real good idea unless you know what you are doing and can do it safely. Having external batteries and charger is a lot easier.

If you don't know what I mean by a FET and why I said it...you probably shouldn't mess with it. No offense.

You might be better off looking at existing power regulators like DNA20 or something and just finding an A/C->DC reasonably high amp fixed supply...AKA high-amp 5v supply or maybe 12v

As for dual coils or ?your dual atomizers?....do the ohm's law calc and make sure you're within specs.

In the begining God created Light... I just used an old cheap computer power supply to provide the watts/volts/amps needed to drive a Blu Cig to start my vaping lust. The power supply provides 3.3V 5.sumthingV and 12.0V I used the 5V outputs with 2 40V rated diodes in series to reduce the voltage to about 3.7-4.1 volts. The wattage will be capable of handling coils down to 1.5 ohms with a minimal voltage drop. Add a Doorbell Switch to the output of the 5.0V power supply lead and WALA a plug in the wall power supply. If you wish to go a bit further and have variable voltage, add a LM317 metal cased voltage regulator along with a variable resistor. If I remember correctly, it cost me around 15.00$ to build. 10$ for the power supply, 3$ for the LM317 and 2$ for the doorbell button. But about 6 hrs of cutting wires finding misc parts in my collection of crud collected and soldering the tiny wires in the USB cord to the leads of the Blu.

Oh BTW the 220V thing the Computer power supply has a switch on the back side of it that allows for 120/220V selection so you are good for that point

Ok, sounds like its do-able then. I just have to see if I can figure out how to power two devices off something hopefully smaller than a computer power supply, even though I have plenty of them laying around.

lol for 16 bucks you can have a VV USB ego passthrough with 1300mah batteries. just hunting down the parts for that "cheap mod" in the link cost more then that in time.

not trying to stop you - but i do think maybe a year and a half or more ago it was worth the effort to try and make something but today there are way too many cheap options already built for near nothing costwise. might as well order the nivel or dna board and just make a real mod at that point.

You could just get a USB wallwart and use this cool device

Or get one of the non variable ones with a DC power supply with a variable output and a usb socket you can scavenge.

Don't forget he wants either dual coil or dual connector (IDK why 2 connectors) but....that's double the watts. And he didn't specify delivery device...(aka net ohms).

So...do the ohm's law calcs. Those small devices and wall warts are severely amp limited. OTOH if you're in normal ranges a 3 amp wall wort at 5v is probably OK (that's 15 watts). Check device limts too if you buy one of those "PT" things.

Sorry, should give more details. The wall powered part is the only part and the comments needed is just the part I don't know 100%. I'm trying to figure out a way to have two different atomizers working branching from the same power source. The power source would be one piece and the two 510s would have a covered wire for two different people to hold. The ohms I'm aiming for ideally would be the 1.5 ballpark especially since I don't know the electronics nearly well enough yet to think about using anything lower while being plugged into an outlet. Attempting that with batteries is still something I haven't done personally.
I'm mainly trying to figure out the insides so I can place that into any other device I could put together.

Post another few times to get your post count up (go say "welcome" to some other newbies), ask a mod to move this post to the modder's forum.

It will take about an hour for a forum refresh so you can post in other areas (the posting limitations stop spam...and are a good thing once you get past them.)

Once there, you will find people that like to talk electronics all day long. They will point you at tutorials and such too. You need some basic electronics theory so you can discuss amps, volts, watts, power supplies and connectors. Also safety. And you'll probably want advice on how to properly solder wires and attach connectors, buttons, etc.
