Any of the runners/exercise buffs around here ever run work out so hard that you nearly threw up? If so any idea if that's an indicator of anything?

Not really PV related, but seeing as I trust you guys more than anywhere else....

Edit: It SHOULDN'T be heat related as it's only (supposedly) 86 degrees out right now... although I do perform much much better in the winter.

1. you could have eaten or drank too much before running.

2. didn't warm up enough (3-5 minute walk prior to the run).

3. are overexerting yourself past your fitness level.

and you could very well have overheated, 86 degrees is actually pretty warm temperature to be running in considering your body temperature will be rising when working out, but it's more likely you just drank too much water prior or pushed your boundries.

it's your body's way of saying slow down on this particular day.

FWIW, I have a friend who is a Pro Natural Body Builder and she often jokes about having a bucket close by for those tough work outs. She does push herself to the limit and beyond sometime - I think she's nuts, but to each their own ;) Even if you think you can push through it, your body may have another plan. I personally HATE throwing up, so I avoid it at all costs. lol
When I used to play softball in high school and traveled for our summer ball program, there were days it was 100 in the shade with high humidity, couple that with catchers gear and 4-5 games a day, and you have a quick recipe for the heaves.
Our bodies always tell us what's going on and we should listen.

It helps if you eat something that is low in fat before your run. Fat digests really slow, proteins a bit quicker and carbs go first. If you need to eat before you run try a piece of toast without butter or a salad. I knew a guy who always yacked until he started eating salads for breakfast instead of eggs. He runs long distance and it really made a difference for him.

I just bought some vibram five finger barefoot shoes to run in! Off topic but I am kind of excited about it. They look really comical but are very good for your feet!

*edit* it takes appoximately 20 minutes for food to move from your stomach to small intestine so try not to eat within 30 minutes of your run
