My intention is not to offend anyone with how I word some of these questions but I have to word it this way in order to get the full understanding of the answer. I have been seeing a lot of people use these drip shields lately and I watched a video over on Empire mods site.
Is the drip shield mostly just intended for people who are messy drippers or just do not know how to do it 100% correctly? (again sorry if this offends)
Are some people just getting them because they add color to your atty?
I am primarily a dripper but I do not understand the point of these as my attys never leak or I never drip outside the drip tip.
Are the 901's prone to leaking and thus the reason for using them primarily on 901 attys?
I have used 901's before but I have never had a problem with leaking.
I will admit they do seem to add color so I figured that is why most people are using them.

I only use 510 atties and have always had a problem with leaking. I actually don't understand how you have not had a leakage problem. The atty has air holes at the bottem that once the liquid has gotten to the atty it can then leak through the air holes. The drip shield basically is a tube over the atomizer that moves those air holes to the top, making it where the juice has to overcome gravity to leak.

The ego cone acts in a similar manner, but one may still face the possibility that the juice will get through the threading on the cone. I guess your milage may vary.

BTW, drip shields are awesome! They are what allows me to drip without mess.

if you have never had a problem with atomizers leaking than you are in the minority. 306's leak like crazy for me but they vape nice with a drip sheild.

How can I use a 306 with a drip shield? I would love to do that. If we are talking an empire drip shield, I thought it had to have a 510 or 901 casing to work.

I put an xxl 306 drip tip from avid vapor on the 306 and slide the drip sheild over the top on an ego. On a non ego mod I do that with a 510/ego adapter.

Well, I mostly use 801's. If it does leak, it is faulty and normally leaks from the bottom in the threads. I just had to retire one I had been using since February. Ticked me off that it died but it was the longest one I have used so far. I always just put in 4 drops, when the flavor stops or I hear the hiss after a pull I redrip. No real science to it. I have seen some messy attys in my time but mine have never really been one of them. I am going to use some 510's on my provari when it comes in so I will test out some 510's more thoroughly then.
