Asked the same question in the New Members Forum, and never really got an answer...

original question,
I got some new juices and need them to steep.
I read somewhere, or saw on YouTube, that its better to let them steep for a day with the top off.
so I put them in a drawer with the tops off but my wife mentioned that they could get cross flavored.

would that happen? should there be airflow to make sure that cross flavoring doesn't occur?
or can I leave the drawer closed so that they are 100% un disturbed?

and while I'm at it. how long should I leave them with the cap off?

I'm getting 40 samples on new liquids... eventually... supplier is backlogged.
so I would like to know before I steep them.

I never steep my juices with tops off, unless they contain alcohol. I hate boozy juices so I take the caps off to let the alcohol evaporate.

That said, very few juices require real steeping time, in my experience. The only ones that need to sit for a while are NET eliquids and some made to order eliquids. Just let them be for a week or two.

Cool, 40 new bottles!

Steeping is a closed bottle sitting for awhile away from light. (Allows time for the flavorings to disperse fully, flavoring to combine completely, basically lets entropy to happen.)

Airing-Out, or Breathe, is an open bottle sitting for a bit away from light. (Allows some alcohol to evaporate, allows some of the volatile flavoring to dissipate, or start oxidizing the nicotine which can add a nice bitter note.)

They do two different things to the flavor and it would be a shame to confuse the two or assume that they are the same thing. Neither one is magic. They are just useful things you might want to try if, and only if, when you try them right after you get them, they don't work for you.

With 40 coming, it seems as if your dripping/test atty is going to be busy for awhile. Have Fun!
