Some mechanical mods just have crunchy buttons. How long have you had it? It may break in and start working better for you. Or you can pull apart the button and try to figure out the problem. Possibly install magnets instead of a spring

The Magneto, perhaps unsurprisingly, has magnets already ;)

Mine (v1) got a little less crunchy as I used them. It's easy enough to take it apart if you wanted to sand it, but I wouldn't bother unless it hadn't improved for at least a week or two personally.

Thanks for your replies. I just got it today and seeped a little machine oil in it. That helped some but not much. I was concerned because the YT reviews I watched went on and on about how nice the firing button action was. If it doesn't get better with use I will take it apart. I just wanted to make sure mine wasn't a bum unit.

Well, mine weren't *that* crunchy.

They weren't buttery smooth, either... They definitely won't fire unless you hit the button fairly square, but it doesn't interfere with using them. The crunch should only really be noticeable if you hit it slightly askew, I think.

I guess partly I've got more used to them (they're my first magnetic switched mods), but I think they've definitely worn in too.

I think another issue is that I have only used APVs and have to get used to the best way to fire a MM. I watch people use their pinkies to do it and that doesn't work too well for me, at least on this device. The magnets are far stronger than I thought they would be.

One of the reasons why I went with the V2 Magneto was a stiffer resistance on the button, but I also liked how smooth the button felt if you hit just right. If you push it off center, yes, there is a bit of a grit feel to it. I personally fire mine with my ring finger knuckle rather than my pinky. That's just the setting for me to get a very clean center press.

I use my middle finger tip, but mostly, the side of my knuckle on pinky to fire button. Button is crunchy for a magnetic switch..

Only problem I have with my magneto, is that when I change from my kayfuns to drippers, I have to adjust contact pin... and I mainly use in 18350 mode.. so screwing off top involves unscrewing telescope portion a little to get it off.

I'd like airflow with it, but it's a good mod for the price.

Same here, glad I went with the V2 and not the original because I switch time to time from KFL and igo-w too. One thing I forgot to mention about the Magneto, I really like how well machined the threads are, some other similar priced clones I sampled just squeaked like crazy when you unscrew the battery tube or top cap.

I know what you mean by having to unscrew the telescope portion for 18350 mode, I recently switched over to 18490/500 mode, for me, just easier to work with and fits better in my hand, although I still use the 350 time to time.
