Hello, I'm hoping people could clear up some confusion. I've been wanting to add VG to my juices. I like less throat hit and more vapor so I was looking to get some VG. I've come to understand there are different "grades". I've read that the best grade for vaping is pharmaceutical grade but food grade is ok. I've picked up a bottle from Rite Aide (rite aide brand/USP). First, is this safe to vape? Since it says usp it's pharmaceutical grade right?

Next, I've been searching online for cheaper alternatives. I've seen gallon bottles for 20-22 dollars. Most of them say Food Grade Vegetable Glycerin USP. This is where I'm confused. I thought USP meant it's pharmaceutical grade? So is it food grade or pharmaceutical? And if it says vegetable and not just glycerin does this mean it's food grade? Are these safe to vape?

Finally, what's your favorite "brand" to vape? Are there differences b/w walmart/cvs/rite aide brands and others available online? Or would those in store brands suffice? I've also read that Wilton's is pretty good: any opinions?

Thanks!

I have not used any local VG from walmart or cvs etc, but my coworker said he prefers wizard labs VG over the stuff from wallyworld. I am not 100% on this but USP is a pharma grade VG and also foodgrade (FG), basically higher quality than FG. I have also seen khoser FG USP VG also. I personally would not vape any VG that isnt labeled USP.

Essential depot has great prices on gallon VG, and it is labeled khoser FG USP.

The VG you got from rite aid is safe to vape

I cant tell a difference between wizardlabs, and essential depot VG, also heard RTS vapes jas spme quaility VG

USP glycerin is pharmaceutical. I get mine from http://www.essentialdepot.com/. I'm told Humco makes most, if not all of the glycerin, so it shouldn't matter if you buy it from Wally World or wherever. I like mine to be Kosher certified.

What is Kosher

Kosher meets Jewish dietary standards. It does not mean some waived their hand over it, and said a prayer. In other words, it's a Jewish law, which is different from a blessing.

kosher means it follows certain guidelines and is "blessed" or deemed ok to eat according to the torah. really it just means it's 'blessed' by the all-seeing rabi going around blessing all the food. this is my opinion.

Thanks for all your input. I think I'll go ahead and use the rite aide glycerin for my juices and stick with all things USP.

As for the Kosher topic, I don't really care if it's made from non-kosher materials since it's supposed to be made of vegetables anyways but I guess it just gives some assurance that it's really not made of pig fat. O_O. I have a friend who grew up in a very strict super orthodox Jewish community and she started to give me the rundown on Kosher. Made my head spin from all the rules.

USP Stands for U.S. Pharmacopaeia, the standard a reagent has to pertain to for purity and quality. You should insist that your glycerin represent his purity, and of course, kosher ain't a bad thing either! Kosher for passover I can't guarantee :) And food-grade is okay, that's what most of us use. As long as it represents the USP purity grade then you are set. Pharmaceutical-grade is an arbitrary definition and doesn't really classify anything here... Hope this helps!
