I would like to purchase the VMOD kit, this will be my first mod but I have used njoy in the past. Since I will be dropping analog once I get this thing, I wanted to make sure everything works without interruption for a few months. So, aside from the entire kit listed here:

Vapage Premium VMOD System

What parts generally wear out pretty quickly? I would like to order backups just in case something fails. I understand getting an extra carto is important, but I'm not sure about anything else.

Thanks for your help!

AN extra carto? Cartomizers are disposable items. In general a cartomizer may work well for a week to 10 days. Maybe 2 weeks if you are extra lucky or a light vaper. By then it will be degraded and a person would usually start a new carto. And if you use think or dark/cloudy/opaque juices then you will go through cartos faster.

I am not sure but I believe Vmod is a proprietary threading and can only use its own stuff - is that correct? If so you better buy more than one spare carto.

The link the OP used is for the original vmod and that thread is here;
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-cigarette-video-reviews/195396-vmod.html

I have this and love it, would recommend extra batteries, bottles and silo cartomizers. I prefer the silos over the atties, and they do tend to last for quite a while, I've been able to successfully clean & reuse several times. Their cartos and atties are proprietery, however there are posts about how to mod boges and such, hth!

There was some discussion on the XL thread linked above, about the regular VMOD being updated to the same sort of feed system as the XL. I didn't follow it closely after I sold my XL, so I don't know if the one the OP linked to is the updated version or if it was, for sure, updated. So, that would be something to look at (whether you have to use the proprietary cartos and atties, and whether it has an internal o-ring to worry about).

It just wasn't for me. I didn't really like the bottom feeding. It might have had something to do with the o-ring. I took a carto out and saw the little o-ring smooshed at the bottom of the cup. I thought it must have been an extra one that got stuck in there by accident because I couldn't figure out where it went. I took it out and saved it as an extra, but never did get what I was expecting for feeding. I'd either flood or burn. Supposedly feeding it is awesomely easy, but I just couldn't get it and didn't really feel figuring it out.

I had already sold it by the time I learned that the o-ring *was* supposed to be there (I included it in the box when I sold it, thankfully). Maybe that's why I couldn't ever get it to feed right. Anyway, I'm not sorry I sold it because I don't want to be monkeying around with parts that don't stay where they are supposed to.

Many people love the VMOD though, so read through both of those threads posted above to hear all the good stuff.

I don't have any experience with the v2 of the VMOD, but with v1 it would work well for a while and then without warning start leaking at the bottle connection. No amount of adjusting the bottle or seals fixed the issue for me. From what I've read these problems have been fixed, but I'm not going to upgrade. Like Spazmelda, I don't care for bottom feeders. Customer service at Vapage is top notch though. The first VMOD I received had a visible crack above the bottle connection. They sent out a whole new kit right away when all I asked for was the chassis. A short time later they sent a second chassis as well so that I would have two complete kits.

LibertariaNate - I read that both of those issues were resolved with later iterations.

One last question, can't seem to get the info after searching. If the cartos are the actual filters with the flavor and strength, then what's the point of the juice?

I said as much...

Not all cartos are pre-filled with juice, Inimical. The Silos that Vapage sells are indeed empty. Before putting it on the VMOD, you "prime" it with the juice of your choice, screw it and your bottle of juice in and vape away.

I wish i had listened to all the advice and forum posts before I started buying different things. My advice to you is forget the VMOD and buy a Reo. Same concept as the VMOD, but so much more well built and easy to use, plus the folks in the Reo forum are fantastic with their advice and willingness to share information. Trust me when I say that the extra cost of the Reo will be more than worth it if you don't waste your money on other inferior products.

This is just my take on the situation, but like I said, I wish I was given this same advice when I first started.

Heh... After I sold the VMOD I got a Provari. Seriously, tons of people seem to love the VMOD though. The Reo is a big favorite as well, but my experience with the VMOD sort of convinced me I'm more of a tank gal than a bottom feeder gal. I'm not a squonker or a squisher, or whatever.

I have a VmodXL and it's all I've used since I got it. I have a handful of other mods, but the 18650 life + more than a day's worth of juice made this a worry-free, all day decision-maker for me. I use atties and cartos on mine. Vapage has a V2 14500 model out, now, that accepts all 510 atomizers/cartomizers. The feed system has not given me one bit of leakage that amy have been reported on the original. This thing is lightweight. It's half-round sides make it comfy in the hand. The flat side makes it easy to lay down without it rolling away lol. It's pocket-friendly. What more can I say? I'd lean to the XL version over the 14500 V2 because of battery life. I use a AW IMR 1600mah and it lasts me just about until the same time the next day. I have other 18650s that perfom well, but not quite as well as the AW IMR.

Good luck with your purchase and feel free to ask any questions regarding the XL in the forum linked earlier.
