question about wick material

i was in hobby lobby to pick up some bamboo yarn and came across some 3 ply Jute rope/twine and was curious if anyone had tried this for wicks, it is a 100% natureal plant fiber so it would make sense to me that it might be useable. any info?

If you have a Michael's nearby they sell Aunt Lydia's Bamboo crochet thread. You can also get it on Amazon, but it has to be purchased as an "add-on" (meaning it has to be included in a purchase of at least $20).
