Question considering burning smell/general vape question.

I've looked around but I havent exactly found the answer to match my needs.

I am quite new to vaping my friend had a mod, Eleaf iStick 20w that he gave me, and I had another friend give me his extra tank/atomizer.
The device registers the coins I got from the shop as 0.2 ohms of resistance, and vape runs at 20w, therefore I have 2v's at my disposal with the current setup. I can't change the settings unless I take off the top and change them then, but then still it auto sets to 20w with 2v, as is expected.

Anyway, whenever I hit it, I usually go for 8-10 seconds due to how relativity weak it is compared to my friends that I am used to that runs at 60w, and since the start I've had a burning smell coming from the atomizer if I smell the air flow hole, and have that burnt. juice taste in the back of my Mouth even if I change out the coil for a new one of similar resistance.

What's my issue here? My tank is clean.

The istick 20w has a resistance range of 1.0Ω - 3.0Ω, it wasn't designed to use subΩ resistances.
The specs & owner manual says not compatible with subΩ resistances.

Surprised it even fires .2Ω, it certainly isn't safe to use in this way, obviously a protection feature has failed.

The istick 20w wasn't designed to work well if at all with 0.2Ω coils. You really need a topper with coils of at least 1.2Ω. If it really is firing the 0.2 ohm coil it is most likely burning it thus the burnt smell and taste

Enclosed in a cheap metal box, held in hand & placed in close proximity to face.

Not trying to be rude but, it never crossed your mind to google ' istick20w ' before using it.

I did, reviews. Looked good and nothing said anything about coil that I could find

Low wattage mod, not designed to use with sub ohm resistance. try looking for tanks with higher resistance coils (Nautilus mini, Nautilus 2) or build bigger than 1 ohms, if you are building your own though.

Camera isn't very good, but you can make out the 0.2 ohms, 2 Volts and 20w.

The connector/airflow under the tank also gets considerably hot.

The 20w was the first in the long line of isticks and unfortunately it did have a few bugs. The power management wasn't the best to say the least. Fortunately they fixed the problems with the introduction of the 30w (I actually have 8 of them and they are what both my husband and I use daily). If your 20w is firing that coil and as you say, it is getting hot I personally WOULD NOT feel safe using it.

I am glad you came here before something bad happened. Please, please get a different topper and for goodness sake get one with higher Ω's. Even better, get a better power source and recycle that istick 20. It truly does sound like its protection circuit is not working. That battery was not designed to fire coils below 1Ω and works much much better with something in the 1.8 and above. Please vape safe.

I will be dipped, the pic shows it registering .2Ω.
It should not fire that resistance, it is not designed for use with subΩ resistances. It is a 1.0Ω - 3.0Ω type device.

The istick 20w has a 4.5ish amp limit, that is a factory set limit / protection feature to prevent battery damage or worse.
20w / .2Ω = 10a
2v / .2Ω = 20w ~ 10a

4.5a / .2Ω = .9v ~ 4.5w considering the istick 20w doesnt down regulate well or at all, you are causing severe battery voltage collapse with each press of the button, if it fires.
4.2v - .9v = 3.3v drop.
A collapse in voltage this extreme puts a huge amount of stress on the battery.
For your own saftey, stop using it with subΩ resistances.
I'd go buy a lotto ticket if I were you.

I had an istick 20, you should get an error reading with a sub ohm coil.
Go to Manufactures website to view owners manual. Istick 30 will sub ohm.

Your device is Defective,,don't use.
