Rob or others,

This has proabably been asked before, but are there any plans to put out a REO using the dna 20 mod?

Not that I dislike my VV Grand using Buzz's chip, but Im really wanting to step into the VW scene and the only mod I want to buy are REOs! And there are some design annoyances with the current implementation (i.e. voltage wheel and lack of indication, using a multimeter to set/check voltage) that Im sure you heard ad nauseum. Still nothing that wouldnt make me say I LOVE my VV GRAND! In fact I need to change my banner below as my Provari is gathering dust now.

If I had the tooling I would be willing to order just a blank and some parts from Rob and make my own mod (and share the design details with Rob).

VV is the way to go. More precise tuning of your vape. VV offers .1 volt increments whereas VW at .5 watt increments has a wider spread between clicks on the dial or numbers on the display. VW to me is just a sham to get people to buy into it. I have a couple of VW mods and I still just don't get it. I had already owned a Prothingy when I bought the VW devices I just wanted to have a couple of them so I would know what I was talking about when I had something to say about them. I can fine tune my vape via coil building there is no need for even having VV anymore. Thus my Prothingy and VW devices collect dust and they are very good at that.

I agree that a DNA20 REO would be the best thing around. I know Rob is nothing like the Prothingy peeps who have rested on their laurels, he is innovating things all the time, even the smallest details, to keep his tribe happy. I prefer VW over VV just for the ease of not having to do the math, but really after a while I knew what coil went with what voltage setting anyway. I just like the screen and ability to see where I am rather than the wheel where I have no idea what settings are so just have to keep turning it until I get where I want.

I love my DNA20, but since it isn't bottom fed it gathers dust also :(

And my good old mechanical grand is pretty much within arms reach at all times so I don't NEED a DNA20 REO, but it sure would be a nice addition to the family should Rob decide to ever go in that direction.

I thought I wanted a dna20 powered REO a while back but I've realized that I would hate to be limited to 20 watts. I like the idea of being able to crank the heat up or dial it down whenever I want but 20 watts just ain't enough. Maybe when the dna30 is out, I might consider modding a REO to accept it. Maybe not... We'll see.

turbocad is the only person i recall making a decent fist of a DNA20 in a Reo. Sinister raccoon bodged one together too. TIM broke his.

Consider the following from a certain Bee . Mechanical Reo grand, 35W. All that takes is a 0.5Ω coil and some damn good batteries. A good sub-Ohm kit and we're home and Rob is working on it.

There is a rumour of a DNA30, but the problem is, unless you make the chip, it's hard to offer a warranty on the product it goes into. I have some DNA20 mods and i had one fire continuously and the chip had to be replaced. That is no different to a component in this typing machine i use to write this going bad. Some will, some won't.

The vv v vw stuff is more interesting since they ultimately achieve the same thing: what matters is the degree of control your electronics can handle. For example:

Voltage 4.2, Ω 3: current=1.4A, w=5.88

Voltage 4.1, Ω 3 : 1.36A w=5.60.

A wheel with no scale will hardly help here! Where did 5.7w go??

Im just not a mechanical fan. Traded my beautiful blue reo grand for a black vv grand. I like my last vape to be as consistent as my first and didnt like the slow degridation of a mech.

But thats just me. I also never vape above 14w. Most I have ever done is a 1.3 ohm at 4.3v and that is a bit warm for my taste.

I do see Robs point about all chips failing. But at the same time I accept that.

One thing rob could have done is put color slots on the vv wheel of the buzz chip. I also own a buzz pro and never had to use a meter as I knew what volts were at what color slot.

Anywho...just wanted to see what everyones opinions were. Maybe a kicked reo grand would do the trick.

Gee I've never turned to a number on any mod VV or VW I always just tuned to the vape I wanted. Turn it up till it tastes nasty then back it down. I couldn't tell you what the number I was vaping because it didn't matter, dial in the flavor and you can't go wrong. It's just that easy.

Good point...but im a numbers guy for a living. So I cant help myself in wanting to know the numbers :)

Turbo cad build an amazing DNA20 REO. Check out his thread about it http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/478411-moddified-reo-grand-dna20d.html

I'm a grand guy myself, but I love electronics and think it would be really cool to have a high tech REO with a display and most importantly a built in ohm meter. For my every day abuse though the grand is perfect. The grand is susceptible to getting dirty and losing performance over time, but a quick bath and she's as good as new.

Rob has stated he's going to build a mechanical that is made to take a kick with an 18650. I'm hoping they release a kick 3 with 20 watts or higher. I find with my Grand and the coils I build I vap between 15 and 22 watts.

That would work to... at least if the kick dies, that is easily replaced.

That is the plan I wont be building wired vv mods again . I could go on and on why its bad for me but I wont . I hope they make a kick with higher wattage myself it would be great everyone would be happy well not everyone

Thanks for the response Rob!

A grand that could easily use a kick would suit me just fine. Sign me up as a pr-order for one of those!
