Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't posted in a while... I guess I got into a sweet spot where I finally found a vaping set up that I was happy with and have been enjoying getting on with my life, vaping away, without worrying about cigarettes :)

BUT, I now have a problem and I need your help.

The last eighteen months I've been travelling a lot (long distance relationship etc.) and I've never had a problem bringing my e-cigs onto a plane or vaping there (albeit discreetly).... the problem I am having is that my cartotanks are leaking badly due to the change in atmospheric pressure. This happens every single flight! I also have a bottom feeder silica tank (Aqua), but I don't want to risk using it in-flght as it gets very messy when these things leak and I'm surrounded by people on a busy plane, stinking of some strange nicotine infused liquid :/

I've managed to avoid the problem recently by using cheap disposables bought in newsagents/pharmacies etc. but I just can't get any satisfaction from them, mostly due to the taste.

I was thinking of buying a simple Joyetech 510 kit (so I can use my own flavoring), or even an eRoll kit. Would these be okay? I want something really compact (ie. not an Ego or bigger) as I have enough big mods to keep me going for a lifetime. I just need something that I can save purely for those occasions where I have to fly. Alternatively, is there a chance that an iClear30 or other clearomizer would leak on the plane? I have one of those.

Many thanks in advance for your words of wisdom.

Cheers,
Aymoon

I took my Smokeless Image batts and their nanos filled and on the batteries on a 3hr flight both there and back and had no problem. Because there was liquid in the nano's I put the batteries with filled nano's in my quart baggie to go through the security line and took them out when I was through.

Aymoon, have you already tried storing bottom coil clearo's upside down? As long as they weren't completely full, it seems like the pressure would be able to vent without forcing any juice out...

I haven't tried this... Do you have experience of this working? I tend to hold my vaper in my hand most of the time on the flight, so it would be no trouble holding it upside down.

What about a dripping atomizer? I've never had a problem with a 10 ml bottle in my carry-on, or any leaking. 3 drops when you're in the bathroom, 5 or 10 good hits, and nothing to leak.

Yeah I thought about this... I have one I really like too (the Steam Machine Mini), but I rarely use it now with all the tanks around... another good option I suppose, as long as I don't leave the wick wet.

I fly every couple of weeks. My eroll kit - which is my go-to for traveling and stealth vaping - gives me zero issues.

Between a basic 510 or the eroll (I have travelled with both), I'd recommend the eroll.

Thanks for that... in my original post I was really considering getting an eRoll, but wasn't sure as it still uses a small tank... thanks for the feedback Khala.

You're welcome.

Yes, the tank is small. I carry two full erolls, one PCC, and six spare tanks, already full. I just don't burn through as much juice on the eroll as I do on larger devices. The tanks take only a second to switch out.

If you get one, stay far away from the LR attys. They will torch your juice on an eroll battery.

I carry this TANK PACK DESIGN Essential accessories for eRoll to handle the extra tanks.

I can tuck the entire setup (minus the PCC - I leave that in my travel vest) and several bottles of juice in my TSA-sized ziplock baggie and and don't even get a second look at security.

Your mileage may vary, but this works well for me when I'm on the road.

I fly almost weekly and had the best luck with my iclear 30s lately. Crack the top open just enough to vent and tighten back down at cruising altitude and it works like a champ. The bottom coils seem to leak even upside down. Cartos have flooded on me many times

My iClear30s have leaked without fail :( i didn't try loosening the top cap. I'd assume that you'd have to do this all through take-off and landing, correct?

Cool. I'm definitely leaning in this direction... If what you say is true and they never leak, then that's a nice, clean simple solution and i can keep my big mods safely tucked away in my carry-on. I think it's the most discreet solution too. Please warn me if there is a chance of leakage though as i don't want any nasty surprises :D
