Maybe this is just a normal progression in vaping but im not sure and would like to here from everyone. I have been vaping for 6 days and this is my experience.

When i first placed my order with V4L and started vaping everything i tried was giving me a good throat hit. 6 days in now hardly any cartomizer is giving me a throat hit. The menthol flavor cartomizers are now the only ones that will give me that good throat hit to "remind" me of the smoking feeling.

And i have quite a good selection of cartomizers to choose from. I believe i have about 25 different flavors of cartomizers so what should i do?

I have places orders for juices from several different companies so i can find what i like but im finding that throat hit is very important to me.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Throat hit comes and goes a little, In my opinion, it is created by the following:

  1. Nicotine strength - stronger gives more kick
  2. Flavour additives - the mint/menthol definitely gives more kick, and some flavours seem to have something extra also, not sure if it's an ethanol affect or what.
  3. Temperature - I think warmer vape gives more kick, which is one of the things the cartomizer helps with.
  4. How much you are used to it - naturally enough, when you first vape the kick is a lil more obvious as you are not accustomed to it.

Anyhows, that's my opinion, not a scientific study.

It is normal for your throat to adjust to the throat kick. I used to always vape the smoothest liquids I could find, because I didn't like throat kick, personally. Since joining V4L, of course, I have almost exclusively used V4L Nobacco Juice. Because I have always loved the flavors, and besides, now I get it free. :D At first, I thought some of them were like sandpaper on my throat. But now, hardly any of them bother me.

But they vary quite a bit in throat kick, so keep trying different flavors. SOme of them will certainly have enough throat kick for you. To me, Red Cow has a lot of kick. So does Cognac, and surprisingly, the Cola. But throat kick also varies from person to person, so YMMV.

Another factor is the nic strength. I feel more throat kick with higher nicotine levels. SO, you also might try higher nic strengths.

Hope that helps.

Sorry, should have included this is my first post. All of my carts are 36mg nic

If a 36mg mint isn't giving you TH then I think you need a new throat :p
What did you smoke to give you a TH before vaping? 32 mg clove cigarettes, unfiltered?

EDIT: or Did you just smoke cigars, and inhale on those?

(And yeah, just tryin to have a lil fun, for me, the 18mg's provide a TH most of the time, but I stick to 11's if I can, I couldn't recommend going over 36, even if it were available)

Somewhere, I read that there are two types of glycerin in the e-juice. One is vegetable glycerin and the other is ?????? (sorry, I don't remember what it's called) but it is the one that I don't remember that gives the throat hit, according to what I have read prior to this.

So....my question is, do some e-juice producers leave out our use less of the glycerin that creates throat hit???

Can someone tell me what it's called, please?

being that you are up to 36mg strength..which is the highest V4L offers if I'm thinking right..so upping nic strength isn't really an option..
As it's been said some flavors seem to have a bit more throat hit menthols and for some coffee flavors..
Adding a bit of PGA (pure grain alcohol) (everclear) to your juice can help too..
There are one or 2 other things that you can try too, but I will send those in a pm as they don't 100% comply with the spirit of this subforum.

It's PG ...and yeah the pg seems for me to have more throat hit than the VG but most producer use more PG than VG anyway

oh yeah, forgot to mention that how you take your drag also can affect throat hit too..
inhaling a slow deep drag directly to the lungs and holding it for a sec will also help that feeling of throat hit, as opposed to filling your mouth and then inhaling..
I myself employ what i would describe as a modified roll..I take a puff to fill the mouth (ie think of puffing a cigar) followed by a slow deep drag directly to the lungs..gives that nice full mouth feel and throat hit...both which i've found important to me and my enjoyment.

not a problem, just felt that anything that might be considered a modification to the KR808D-1 or a combination or .......ization of said device with other parts might be best left to a PM...while there are other threads in this subforum where it might be fitting, this was not that place..

I use this method when the cigarette urges come on strong. It can be a bit harsh on the throat after a while, so just keep a drink handy :)

Thanks for all the excellent responses.

Being a noob i just didnt know some of this stuff. Also, i have been vaping like a cigarette and after reading all day on this forum i obviously realize i have not been doing it right. Due to a few comments on the boards i would take a couple of drags and swap out carto's so that they wouldnt get hot. now after letting them get a little warm i realize that the flavors are fuller and the throat hit is better and the vapor is better.

Feeling a little stupid but i guess its all just a learning curve.

Actually, that is what I do. I generally have 3 batts and PT going at the same time. (hate when they get to hot for my lips, also I don't want to burn the cart out)
