Question from a .....

Newbie here, obviously. Also I'm kind of a ..... when it come to all these electronics. But I had a question anyway.

So my understanding is that with things like the sx350 and dna chips that you can buy all that is required is attaching a battery and sometimes buttons. Pretty simple for those of us with some hand-eye coordination and craft skills. Understanding the electronics is the hard part. I guess my main question is why someone hasn't hooked something like this up to one of these yet:

Yeah it would probably make it larger than most would want to carry but I would certainly carry something a bit larger for the 10k mAH life.

Am I reading the description correct that it would technically be safe to use as a vaping battery? So would the 7.4 volts fry one of these chips? Isn't it basically just 2x3.7v batteries in series?

Really, what am I missing here?

Welcome to ECF.

As an admitted newbie with 0.0 knowledge of electronics, what your missing is that building your own mod is abad, bad, idea and you would indeed most likely "blow your face off."

Buy a reliable, authentic, manufactured device and use it until you learn everything there is to know about battery operated electronics and battery safety.

Then, forget about building a mod and continue using the reliable, authentic, manufactured device.

I absoultely agree.the new regulated box mods are really nice because they have the safety of being regulated (won't fire a short) and( adjust your voltage to your wattage) these types of higher wattage mods take 30 amp batteries only. I have a ipv3 150 watt box mod and I get three days out of my batteries without charging even heavily vaping. You don't want to change out the recommended batteries or you will be asking for trouble. My mod takes two 30 amp 18650 vtc5 batteries. I'd say it's best at this time for you to buy a mod and NOT ATTEMPT to make one. There is more to making one then you might think. Best wishes

Well, you could use that venom battery with a 4 ohm coil on your RDA, for example. But if you are an electronics newb then it could be better to stay with something someone else built for a while, until you understand the issues.

Or, if you want to get into modding / electronics, then first get a Weller soldering station, a $50 multimeter, some coils of wire, the plans for a basic 3.7 volt boxmod, the parts for it, and start there. Get some tools such as needle-nose pliers, small high-quality wire cutters, wire stripper, a heat sink clamp, and stuff like that. Don't buy a cheap soldering iron or a cheap meter as you'll regret it - your work can only be as good as your tools unless you're an expert.

Practice soldering until you can get really good joints. Dry joints (dull grey ones with an HR) are no good, you want bright silver ones that can't be pulled apart and have no measurable resistance.

Then build a basic boxmod. Use the Ohms law online calculators to work out how your RDA coils act with the batt, and meter it all out to see that the meter agrees with your calcs.

Then move up.

I have seen people use such a battery for their mods, this is something that only a very experienced builder should even consider tackling.

What you're missing here is that those batteries are dangerous and you quite easily could do serious damage to yourself and/or others if you don't know ... you're doing.
