This is probably a stupid question but I am new to this, so please excuse my stupidity. What is the difference between low resistance and high resistance atomizers and cartomizers? I have the eGo Twist and want to know if one or the other is preferable or dangerous to use with a variable battery. Is there a difference in the throat hit? I am using 2.0 to 2.7 cartos now. Is there something better?

No such thing as a stupid question. LR typically are used for lower voltage devices where as HR are used on higher voltage devices. For example, I use a 3.0+ ohm carto or atomizer using my VMAX at 5.0+ volts but when I'm using my eGo or Bolt etc. I tend to use LR cartos and atomizers usually between 1.5 ohm or 2.0 ohm. Nothing changes as far as "danger" is concerned.... at least not that I'm aware of hehe :p Throat hit wise not really but you do get a warmer vape out of higher voltage devices so it my be more appealing to some. Oh and the ohms I am using are DC (dual coil) the ohms can be a bit higher for LR/HR cartos and atomizers if you are using single coils. Again, it all comes down to personal preference in the long run and how much vape you are looking for.

The good thing about the Twist is,you get to try diff omh rated cartos and such.I would start out at a low seting and work my way up 1 notch at a time.If it starts to get a funky taste,try to stop befor you burn the filler.then back down 1 notch at a time till you find your sweet spot.hope this helps

It all comes down to wattage. Take your voltage multiply it times 2 divide by your resistance. That gives you your wattage. That is ohms law. So it doesnt matter what you choose as long as the vape is good for you. It would be dangerous for you to use a high volt device with a low resistance. To much wattage will burn juice and equipment. But, most protected devices will not send all the voltage to that low resistance. Therefore keeping you and your equipment safe. I have twist I use a 1.5 atomizer decent throat hit good taste and vapor. I dont go above 2.0 ohms on anything and usually run between 4.0 and 4.4 volts. Find the wattage you like that is the advantage of vv. Hope I didnt overload you.

Small correction:

Watts=(volts x volts) / ohms

For the twist, a 2.0-2.2 ohm atty/cartomizer will give you the most usage of the voltage range. Any lower and you might run into the amperage limit at high voltage, any higher and you won't be taking full advantage of the voltage range (ie: weak mid voltage vape. Once you find what wattage you like you can adjust the resistance and voltage as many boost regulators will perform better with a little headroom to spare.
