I read a previous thread about extracting nicotine from patches....my question is, the nicotine in one patch is 145mg. A recipe for getting 24mg nic juice (30ml) is to use 5ml of 145mg juice. If I soak a patch in, say, 10ml of PG....would I still have 145mg juice? Same if I soak it in 20ml PG?

Might be interesting.

You have to divide the mg by ml, so 145mg / 10ml = 14.5mg per ml.
So for 24mg nic juice in the quantity of 30ml, you take 24mg * 30ml = 720mg of nic. So you will need 5 patches for 30ml, that is IF you get all of the 145mg of of it.
This make sense?

I think it does, Dan...thanks. I wanted to see if I can make my own nic-juice, and this seemed the safest way. I tried the Snus, and wound up with tobacco juice with very little nic.

I didn't realize that it would take that many patches to get one 30 ml. bottle, though.

Now you got me thinking LOL, what if you put 5 patches on an apple? It would absorb the nicotine. If all 5 did not "fit" then in 24hrs you change the patch out and slap some more on. Then puree' the apple and strain out the nic enriched juice. Hmmmm I wonder if this would work. Of course you will have to use alot of patches as a small apple contains approx 70ml of juice. Of course you could put that over a low heat and let the water evaporate.

That might work...I don't know. What originally threw me off, was the larger amount of patches used, because EACH PATCH contains 145mg. of nicotine. Even if you could only get 50% out...that's almost 70mg. of nic.

Not all patches are created equal. Some brands have more nicotine, some have less. Be careful here.

The apple thing would work (see the 2nd post here), but the nicotine would end up in a salt form, unsuitable for vaping.

Soaking the patch in PG / VG would probably work, but keep in mind that there's more than just nicotine in those things.

Thanks Chemist. I am trying to find a way to make my own nic-juice without needing a lab and hazmat suit! I tried soaking Camel Snus in VG...and wound up with a tobacco flavoring, with little to no nic, that I can tell. I don't want to do anything dangerous....but with a possible ban coming, so far I am not succeeding in cutting myself down to zero nic yet, and I don't have the money to buy a stockpile. I DO, however, have a lot of unopened patches here- so I thought they may work.
