I got my kit today!! I am charging the batteries now. I am assuming when the light goes to green that it is charged. Although when I charged the first one it went to red at first and about 15-20 minutes later it went to green. Sure would have been a help if they had included instructions. Fortunately I went back to the site I bought it from and they have online instructions and videos that helped me.

I think that the 24mg nicotine may be too strong for me as no matter how small the puff I start coughing. I know Kent said I can dilute it with some PG from my local Walmart. My question is do I dilute it in the e-liquid bottle or in the clearomizer? About how many drops do you use at a time?

Now I am wondering which strength I should order when I buy more e-liquid as from this place it comes in 48mg, 36mg, 24mg, 18mg, 12mg, 6mg, and 0mg ?

thank you for any help and/or advice,

betty

Hi betty! :thumb:

If you decide to dilute - if you pour 1/2 of the bottle out and add PG to it, it will be 12mg. You'll lose some flavor as well of course. I'd tend to say to pour out about 1/3 of the bottle that has the 24mg and add the PG to fill - that will be around 16-18mg. On reorder, order 12mg and see how that goes. You can then add some of the 23mg that you poured out to strengthen it.

Also - I know this is getting complicated but you'll catch on. IF you buy the VG - Glycerin - that is thicker than PG so you'll first have to dilute that with distilled water or culligans will do too. Do that in a separate bottle at a 80:20 ratio of VG to water - shake it up well and then add it to the 1/3 left in the 24mg mix. And... the VG/Glycerin will be smoother than the PG, btw.

Thank you again for the great information and instructions Kent :)
Since I already filled one of the units with the 24mg is there a way to pour it out or should I add some of the Walmart Glycerin (bought a bottle last night) to the clearomizer to dilute what's in it?

thank you very much!

betty

If it's more than 2/3 full then pour it back into the bottle - if not just add some glycerin BUT first dilute it with water... distilled or bottled water would be best. 80:20 Glycerine:Water.

Ok, I poured what was in the clearomizer back into the bottle. I think if memory serves that the glycerin from Walmart is PG. Do I need to dilute that before I use it?

Added: I forgot to ask how long it takes to charge the batteries fully? When I charged them last night the light turned green after about 15 mins. however when I went to use the e-cig it died after about 5 puffs. Once I finished coughing and choking I plugged it in again and it turned green after about 5 mins. If the light turns green and it's not fully charged, how do I tell when it's charged? I went back to the kit site and looked at the battery page and the charger page but neither gives a charge time.

thank you,
betty

I use Joyethech ego c upgrade passthroughs exclusively at home. It has more than 5 click protection in that it also tells you via light color change when the battery is getting lower so you can charge before it goes dead which will increase battery life. It also has more built-in safety. You really don't see either of them in a non-upgrade, which your link is to, anymore. The vendor is most likely getting rid of stock they had before the upgrade which has been around a year at least. I would shop around a bit more. A single ego c upgrade with a box of five cartos, charging equipment, cone and drip tip should not run you more than $35.00. It would be more economical to buy one of those and buy a single battery separately as a 1000 mah ego c upgrade passthrough should cost around $21.00. If the description does not say "upgrade" or T2 or C2 (2 denoting upgrade) then read to see if it lights to warn of dropping below a certain charge level... button light color changes.... that's an upgrade. Edit: Also, the upgrade (at least the C) has more protection than the non-upgrade.

When I went to the page where they have the battery that came in my kit it calls it an upgrade battery, although not a passthrough.
Once I recover financially from the kit I bought I will take a look at the items you suggested :)

Thank you so much for the reply and information,

The light colors are different on the "c" so bear with me here. Most batteries come with some charge so the initial charge you do should not take very long. After using the battery and plugging it in again with your clearo on it and sucking once, the light will also be red as you've drawn some charge from it using. No one can say how long until you get a green light as we don't know how much you used it... but I can say this... on the "c" which should be the same in charging time respect... my 1000mah passthroughs take about 2 and a half hours on a battery that has already given me the "low warning" light color change. I've read at different vendors and they vary. Some say the light change happens below 50%, 25% or 20% so there's a bit of confusion there and depending on if you plug it in right away and its just below 50% that will differ from 20% in charge time of course. The light will not turn green until its fully charged unless you are using it in passthrough mode... (plugged in while using)... if you are, then the light will go red with each puff and it cannot fully discharge when using that way as its charging the whole time in use.

There is something wrong with the "it died after 5 puffs" and turned green after charging 5 minutes. 5 minutes would be about right after 5 strong puffs but should never create a dead battery. Are you sure? Are you sure you didn't 5-click off and didn't remember doing it?

On the coughing: Vaping is different than the way some smokers inhaled directly into the lungs. In vaping, you suck like on a straw, fill the mouth with vapor and then inhale with lips only slightly parted. Take it easy until you get used to it. Depending on your juice's throat hit and your nic level it can take some time to adjust.

Also, the voltage you're using will bump up throat hit. As an upgrade, you 5-click it off, THEN hold the button down for 5 seconds until the light comes on and blinks three times. Whatever color that button is then is telling you if you have it in regulated or unregulated mode. I don't know the colors on a "t." Regulated means volts will never go above 3.3 (a good place for a new vaper) and I wouldn't recommend highter until you're used to it. Unregulated mean you are getting the voltage your battery has and it will drop down as you use it. It starts at 4.2 volts, spends a long time at 3.7 volts and quites around 3.2 volts. I don't advise using it that way until you adjust. Use it unplugged in with the right button color light for regulated mode (I don't know what that is as I use a "c")

I've never been able to get PG from Walmart without ordering it special at the pharmacy counter... so I really think you have VG which is where many DIYers here get it. That's a good thing for you with the coughing problem as VG decreases throat hit... PG increases it. So you should bump your VG up until you get used to vaping.

Hope that helps.

My battery is a "c" not a "t". This is the kit I bought and received yesterday: eGo-C w/ SmokTech Redux Starter Kit

It was in stock at our Walmart, right where the post that Kent gave me in a previous post in this thread. The label is different design wise than the one in the link however it seems to be the same stuff and is the same manufacturer. On the front label it says

"Glycerin USP 99.5% (Anhydrous) An emollient & Demulcent Pure Natural"

So I don't know for sure if it is VG or PG.

Thank you for the reply and information,

betty

Betty, that's VG and you should dilute it as above.

With the battery, when you screw it on the charger the button light on the battery should blink a few times and the charger light goes red. Only screw the battery into the charger to finger tight or until the red light comes on. When the light on the charger goes green, then the battery is fully charged.

Kent, as always you came to my rescue again... :)

Once I get my liquid diluted I'll keep track of how long the battery lasts this time, hopefully longer than the 5 small puffs I took last night when it died.

thank you again,

betty

It should last about 8-10 hours of vaping. So if it doesn't, then contact the vendor soon - there's something wrong with the battery. Try the other one.

Ok I will try it. Can't try it tonight though as I don't have any bottled or spring water to dilute the glycerin until I pick some up tomorrow.

MUCH better now :) Although my initial two puffs resulted in coughing, once I got to the third I took a smaller puff and no coughing!!

One question though, is it normal for it to make crackling type noises when you push on the button to take a puff and/or when you take the puff?

thank you,
betty

Good betty! Yes it is normal for some crackling popping.... It varies. And it takes a while to know how much to drag, etc. You'll get it down ;)

Good to know the noises are normal :) I guess I'm going to find out how good the customer services is where I bought the kit as one of my batteries definitely doesn't not hold a charge. It lasts long enough to do the 5 presses then dies. At the same time I may order another couple of clearomizers as in their specials email I received last night they are marked down a dollar to $3.95 each. I'm also going to order a milder liquid, probably 12mg, as well as another of their sample flavors and empty plastic bottles.

Oh well, off to complain!!

thank you again for the info,
betty
