Question on the Passthrough

When you plug this into the back of your computer and vape while in your office and then you need to leave and put a battery on it, can you leave the passthrough plugged in at all times to the back of your hard drive or do you have to unplug it from there each time? Thanks.

i would think the circuit would have to be closed and the contacts shorted to be of any concern.
if it did happen though, would it hurt the computer?
what if someone dropped the end into a cup of coffee or something?
