So, I've been tobacco-free for 15 days now (Yeah yeah! :2cool:) with absolutely zero issues up to this point and all of a sudden, within the past hour or so, I've had the hugest jones for a cigarette that no amount of chain-vaping is taking away. (Even at 24mg!! I'm a little buzzy right now... WheeEEEEEE!)

For context, I've been fine ever since I dropped to 18mg over a week ago. I'm keeping well-hydrated, too, so I don't think the issue is with dehydration either, if it could be, even. (Pardon my ramblings. I can find all sorts of ways to combine words so that I don't make sense.)

All you more experienced vapers here, is this normal? I'm doing my best to push on through (well, I have to, since there're no cigs in the house, and I've tied up all my disposable income for this month in hardware and juice :D) and I'm just wondering if any of you have experienced something like this, and if so, was it just one of those things that happens from time to time?

Guess I'll just have to be stubborn for now, get some rest, and see how I am tomorrow.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

I have only had 2 times when I really wanted a cig. When I was super stressed about an injured puppy and yesterday at Walgreens...waiting in line and staring right at the smokes. I didn't buy any though. I took a walk instead and vaped higher than usual mgs. It'll go away.

This is reassuring. Thank you.

Yep, I'm 2 months into vaping and I'll vape away on my Silver Bullet and daydream hardcore about my King Size Player's Rich cigarettes. I only started smoking last year at Easter time and quit this year at Easter time. However, when I started up last year, I fricken LOVED them. Everything about them. I still savour that addicting love that I had for them, hence the daydreaming. I only had about 5-6 per day, but I treasured them and my time with them.

As bad as it sounds, I can guarantee that if I got too low on my juice and couldn't get any in time before I ran out, I would be at the closest convenience store getting a pack to tide me over. I wouldn't wait it out.

The best advice that I can give is to acknowledge your jones for a cigarette and keep vaping. For me, it's like sitting back and thinking about a good childhood memory.

Just want to add my 0.02 cents in here. Mike,, ii have to ask did you used to smoke cigarette's in the house? A certain spot outside? Is there a article of clothing (like a jacket, shirt, shoes) you used to smoke it?

This is going to sound silly, but 45 days ago when i wanted to give the push, i bought frebreeze and sprayed everywhere i had smoked previously, and then did a super coating on my denim jacket. I also gave a quick wash of my walls (seeing as i live in a rooming house). I started drinking water (ARGH!) and coffee with hazelnut flavor, and gave myself "challenges"

Make it a game for yourself, have fun with it. like lets say there is a juice flavor you like..keep telling yourself...."if i make it to the end of the week/month then i am so getting a 30ml of it"

Seeing as my brain is suddenly kicked in the last few days and making me knowledgeable of matters of the e-cigarette (ever since i went to the vape meet, and i wanted to contribute to the conversation) a little trick here i just noticed on myself;

What are you currently using? maybe it is not delivering the right about of nic to the lungs? When i was using my stardust (version 3) with 18mg watermelon today i had not noticed anything except i was chain vaping. When i crashed out about 2pm and was up at 7pm i was going jones for a cigarette hard core and the star dust was not killing it, not even on my mod.

Soon as i fired up my wonderful (think i am in lust with it) moose juice in the vision grande on the saber touch, i have killed the want of the smoke

Hope something of this helps you, or gives you some creative idea's to help you

I've been through the same thing. The first month was the most difficult, 30 days of fighting with my own brain. Without a detailed explanation, simply, I think our bodies & brains are still in transitional detox mode, physically & chemically. The habit is only half the battle.

Still almost two months in, I must say the urge has lessened greatly. I don't think about the McStinkies as often, actually, only once this week did I catch myself 'thinking' about lighting up. But I didn't!

Strangely, I stood outside with smokers and didn't feel the need to smoke, yet walking towards the kitchen I suddenly felt an urge from no where! No trigger, no coffee, no special ciggy moment by the fireplace! I was walking to the kitchen!! So I think the brain is still firing off messages periodically because it's missing a process that has been going on for all the years with cigarettes. These things don't change over night.

Be strong, keep trying different juices etc., hang in there and do something to take your mind off of it. It will definitely get easier and less intense as the days go on. :)

Every other day I want a cigarette. Since I started vaping almost two years ago. For me I just have to come to terms with the fact that I'd rather be smoking. Exspecially now since I've had *counts on fingers* 5-6 beers. All I want is to smoke and use words like exspecially. IT'S NOT EVEN A WORD FOR FRIGS SAKES.

Don't beat yourself up about it . So what if you end up having an analog . You will soon see it isn't as great as you where expecting it is just part of your years of conditioning while smoking . After it is gone get back on the vaporizer and forget about it . Your vaporizer will keep you off smoking for the most part so an occasional cigarette isn't going to kill you but going back to them will slowly affect your health and maybe one day kill you sooner than if you didn't smoke . A vaporizer is a great substitute but not a cure and won't stop all of the cravings but it does make it so much easier to say yes I am a smoker but I choose not to smoke because of the way it affects my health . I want to live longer and free of the complictions caused by smoking .

Thanks everyone, for your words and your support. Have I told you all what a great bunch of people you all are?

I seem to be doing a lot better this morning. Not sure if I was overtired last night or what. I was just kind of taken off-guard by the fact that this happened pretty much out of nowhere. No triggers or anything. Just browsing the forums before bed. It was very strange. I suppose that's the nature of addiction, though. You don't need anything in particular to set it off.

Anyway, lots of good strategies to help carry me through the next one, if and when it happens.

Thanks again!

What has worked for me:

After 2 weeks of strictly vaping I had a battery issue and resorted to having a smoke. It tasted really disgusting. Now and then I do get a craving - it will probably never go away completely - and I remind myself of how awful it tasted, as well as all the other things about smoking that suck. So maybe try to hold off as long as possible and then give in once, and don't let that taste leave your memory :).

Not sure what your vaping, but having a good tobacco flavour (for me it's Flavourcrafters) to lean on helps tremendously.

I fight this every day too!! Today is only day 5, but that's a whole bunch of analogs I've stayed away from! It's worst for me when I wake up in the morning. New routine for me is leave the pv on the nightstand. Reach for it as soon as I wake up. Kind of disrupts the whole morning routine and helps a lot!

I must say too, this forum has helped a lot! Everybody here is uber supportive! I really like the "reward" idea too!

As many have said, it gets better and the cravings will ease and likely go away. For me the first month was pretty bad. Even though I had dropped down to one analog a day within three days of starting to vape, I could not shake that one analog for two weeks. Then when I did, I craved it with all my heart for another couple of weeks. Then I sat down and had a talk with myself. I had my rational side explain to my emotional side that a 30 year habit, having that one analog first thing after waking up, was something I'd done for more than 1/2 of my life, and it wasn't going to be easy to ditch that habit.
It eventually got easier, and now I'm six months into vaping and analog free for over five, and the only time i get a wee craving is after a ride on the motorcycle. That used to be a ritual; light up, then take off my helmet, gloves, etc.. It's not so easy with vaping, so I'm adjusting my routine to accomodate that. It reallly isn't a big deal anymore....now, I can't imagine going back. My wife still smokes, and the smell makes me nauseated.

Even with 24mg? When I first started vaping 2 1/2 years ago I had the same problem... Could not get my fix... That was until I ordered some Innovapors Ultrapure.....36mg nicotine strength... That along with a Low Resistance atomizer @ 3.7 volts .
Besides your nicotine level , what are you vaping with? 3.7 volts with a LR atty is a pretty good starting point, but to get that warm thick vapor like cigarette smoke you will need to move up to a Variable Voltage Mod with a big battery...... Need I say more...... Its PROVARI time for you my freind....... You will forget all about the cigarettes once you go big into the world of vaping.... and VV is where its at !!!

You are doing so well, keep hanging in there. IMO at 15 days your hitting your withdraw threshold and all the little neurons are flashing and firing. Your right there, it's gonna get much easier very soon. The first two weeks for me were hell, as they are for many. But your nearly past them now WTG!
