Hello again!

I've built myself a rather nice tri-coil build. the issue is I don't get a lot of vape from it in one hit. This of course due to the amount of coil (four wraps x 3) that's involved and heat up time.

My question is, how long can one draw from a mech mod? IE, how long can one keep their finger on the button before one has to let go?

I guess I've been spoiled by my twisted coils and my hell's gate. At worst, i'll rebuild it with twisted as that stuff is amazing!

What ohms are you running at first thing?
What batteries are you using?
What gauge wire?

To get a safe and honest answer from anyone, you'd have to explain these two first. Any answer without more info is a blind shot in the dark.

As long as you are below the CDR of the battery/batteries, they should handle the load as long as the switch is engaged. However, do remember, higher current for extended draw time builds up more heat in the battery to keep that current sustained. As you heat the batteries, their chemical make up alters, similar to simmering a stew, change their chemical make up you decrease their optimal Mah and C rating, change those two factors, their maximum CDR decreases, lowering their potential with such extended output, and that decreases their life cycle as well. Mechs are nice, experimenting is all fine and well, for the type of exotic builds you are doing you'll be much better served on a regulated for your cloud chasing, not trying to come off as sounding preaching in any way, just my experience, the path you are taking is very expensive burning through batteries every month to two months, but also dangerous.

Sorry about that !

My build is a 0.4 ohms with 28 gauge normal or none twisted stuff.

26650 NMKE batteries

I do apologize for not putting the info in and I'll remember that next time.

I have been searching for some 24 gauge in the local store... but I won't get any till monday :)

24 will take longer to heat than 28. I take long drags off my mech. Try blowing into it first as you fire then take a drag, kinda preheating the coils.

--SNIP-- Too long to quote.

Probably the best reply I've ever gotten. And not once did you come across preachy! And since this the internent, I mean my statement in full sincerity.

I am fully aware of the risks and counter measures I need in case things go wrong. I research daily into my mods, batteries and risks. I am one of them type of person who takes care of myself and those around me... I'd die inside if I hurt a member of the public or one of my love ones. I come here when I've looked around and can't find an answer that help me or if there's something I don't understand.

Case in point - I have a dreadnought that I can't test the ohms because there's no 510 allowing me to do so. My choices are simple - either wait till monday for a multimeter OR go ahead, fire it and risk myself and others. I'm waiting for my multimeter. The risk to others is always in my mind and helps me towards building safe.

If you check my post history - I asked the other night about a very minor dent in Samsung batteries. I'd over tightened the hell's gates caps and put a small dent in one. Them batteries are now sat outside my house in a salt bath because I couldn't risk it.

SO please, don't ever think you're coming across preachy. Your words are sound and I understand your intent :)

Too papergoblin - I think I might have to try some 30 gauge stuff and wrap the crap out of it. Thank god for nearly a needless supply of wire1! I just seem to get insane results from my twisted kanthol and that might be the logical next step.

Thank you to everyone :)

Papergoblin - I do have some 26 gauge wrapped with 32 gauge clapton coils here... I didn't like them very much. But I assume that's because it's a 26 gauge core.

I'll have to look around for 28 core version.

I make my own, if you didn't care for clapton in a 26 then 28 won't be much different. If micro coils just don't do it for you, I'd suggest 28 ga parallel.
