Question to anyone who has been using preimums for a long time

I'm finding that after I've been using a premium carto for a while (a few days and I vape pretty much non stop) that the carto will get extremely hot and produce less vapor. The heat can almost burn the lips off your face, it's so hot and it's not from long drags but heats up almost instantly.

I've searched the forum and found the tip about checking to see if the element is centered and it is centered so I'm thinking that my carto has bit the dust. If it is heating up really fast and producing less vapor and a somewhat muffled taste, is this the sign of the end of the life of the carto?

No biggie if it is, I have plenty and it's been a great few days but this thing is getting so hot I can't stand to vape it anymore.

Thanks a ton for any suggestions. I have some cool carts on the way and I'm really digging the products so far!

Everyone seems to have different opinions on this. I tend to feel that pre-filled premiums run cooler and produce more vapor. When it is empty and refill it...it tends to run hotter and produce less with each refill. I generally use a premium carto for just a couple days...toss it...and break out a fresh pre-filled. (I refill with the same flavor). It may not be the most cost-effective, but still plenty cheap.

BTW...I recall someone hypothesizing (can't recall who) that the wire and wick get gummed up after awhile. This not only prevents the liquid from getting to the wire for vaporization, but that this lack of liquid also doesn't cool the wire enough...thus getting much hotter than before.

Sounds reasonable to me.....

Sounds like it is what I was thinking it is. Time to toss. I kind of wanted to throw another flavor into rotation anyway! I look at it like I can either spend two days smoking a total of 4 packs of cigarettes at five dollars a pack or one to two cartomizers averaging out to about two to four bucks. Total no brainer.

You can try washing to extend life even further. Some folks have good luck with that and gets months out of a carto. I do save my used cartos in case a ban comes down the pike in the future...but too lazy to wash them just now.

I'm with maxx on this one...I've got two big coffee cans full of used up cartos and lots of juice. But to me there is nothing like a pre-filled carto.
I don't like to drip that's why my 510 is gathering dust

I like that idea. I took both of my hot ones and cleaned them out really good with the sprayer on my sink. I'm going to let them dry for a few days and than I'll toss them in a can. I have plenty of fresh cartos so tossing them in a can for later seems like a smart thing to do. Who knows. Maybe I'll run out someday and that can will be my goldmine. Very helpful!

Sometimes I wonder if anything grows in our carto recycle cans. Like when we open them up a year later, an Alien face-hugger pops out or something. Next time I am in a state where pure grain is legal and sold, I am going to snag a bottle. Maybe preserve the cartos soaked in alcohol might be a good way to be sure nothing is breeding in there. With all the nicotine, no self-respecting insect would hang out in there...and PG has some antibiotic effects. Still....who knows over months....

coolcarts will last you even longer. the one i am using right now is a week old. still hits and tastes like it is brand new.

if you rinsing them out with tap water there could be trace amounts of bacteria. if they are "bone dry" then i dont see a problem. could always wait untill they are dry and them put the condoms back on them, or boil and dry them before using.

ok.. so this may be a dumb question(s) but hey... I am new to all this... I have been refilling some of the prefilled cartos but I think they now need to be cleaned. I wasn't going to do this but I figured I would give it a shot and see how it works out.......

So the questions are... after rinsing with hot water.. how long do they need to be boiled for? Added after water has come to a boil or are they in the pot the entire time? And how long does it take for them to completely dry?

Any help?

boiling them directly probably isn't a very good idea. Pouring hot water over them is probably a better idea.

As for how long it takes to dry them - for you it'll take longer than it does in Georgia but not as long as it does in southern Arizona. Give or take. Of course, that'll be skewed if you turn on the air conditioner.

I couldn't imagine that boiling them is a good a idea.... I thought hot water would be good enough but I keep hearing that people are boiling them... so I figured I would ask..

As for the drying... I understand that the climate, air conditioning etc. would play a factor... was more or less looking for a general time frame.

try using a turkey baster to clean them with. just use some pliers to hold the carto. blow them out before you set them to dry. i always let mine dry for at least a week just to make sure. thats probably overkill, but if you dont need them right away.....
