I have been using my vapor king for a few weeks now, mostly using and refilling pre-filled premium cartridges.

I ordered 2 different colors of blank premium cartridges a while back and decided to start using them, so I pulled out 2 of each color, removed the white caps, filled each one with 18 drops of wowboy 18 juice and...

using these filled blanks each time I take more than a 2-3 second drag on ANY of them or if I take 2 drags close together the cartomizer gets extremely hot and I burn my lips. I first thought I was being shocked, the heat was very intense, but not after inspecting with my fingers that this is definitely heat. I can replicate this extreme heat with 5 different batteries and the cartomizers so I know it's not the batteries, and all of these batteries work fine in any other circumstance. I immediately switched back to the pre-filled cartridges for now for fear that I will get discouraged by the burning and start smoking the analogs again. Also it hurts (duh).

This does NOT happen when I re-fill the pre-filled v4l cartridges, in fact I can take very very long drags on those with very little increase in heat.

I'm NOT saying that there is anything wrong with these blank cartomizers, I have not been doing this PV thing for very long and I'm sure I must be doing something wrong with these blanks and juice. So what is it???

Some carts, even purchased from the same source burn hotter than others. For a simple solution pull the plastic cap/caps from the cart. Cut a small hole in the top of the silicone condom that came with the cart and push it onto the top. It provides an insulator that will keep you from getting burned and on the plus side it's easier to remove and refill.

I usually put hot (scalding) water thru mine with a syringe to wash...done this about 5 times. These are prefilled or blanks that I have filled myself MOSTLY PREMIUMS.

I have noticed some of these do not last very long when vaping, even after the first couple of washes....maybe last 10-15 minutes or taste burn even sooner.

So....I started taryn spinning the juice out after using. If any of them had slightly less than half or 1/4 of a condom of liquid come out, I pulled the filler out and looked at it. All of these had burn holes in filler and some had burn holes on the blanket thingy under the filler. MOST OF THESE WERE PREMIUMS!

My theory...if they don't wick properly, they are burned even though the taste is not obvious...you are just wasting liquid by washing and refilling these. Now I trash them if they have much fluid spinning out after I use them. I don't need to be vaping filler and wasting juice!!!

If they are GETTING HOT.....be on the lookout for this! I use drip tips to protect my lips and didn't know this was happening.

So from what you are saying I am not doing anything wrong in my filling process?

I do not want to risk burning my lips each time I go to vape a freshly filled cartomizer. What if an analog friend wanted to try it out...they would probably never vape again if it burned them!

I'm going to try the cool carts, if that doesn't work i'm going to just buy pre-filled cartomizers. Not worth it to me to chance the burns.

This is a bummer because now I have 10 cartomizers that are for all intents and purposes potentially unsafe to use (unprotected). I went with the 2 piece cartomizer system for the ease of use. I really don't want to have to carry around a third part to protect my lips. Argg.

The cartomizers I am referring to are brand spanking out-of-the box NEW empty premium cartmozers. Not washed or altered in any way. Just filled. Burning.

anyhow...kinda off topic:

I have heard that you can wash the carts and re-use them and I was considering that. But what is the lifespan? For example...

What do you suppose the drag to drag ratio (until burn taste) is on

brand new (pre-filled) premium cartomizer to...

a once washed newly filled cartomizer using the washing method you use?

This is why I stick to coolcarts, Steve has said they do the same thing as premiums, just run cooler, I personally like cool vapor over hot, I vape on WOWBoy and Smilin 30ML bottles.

I think IMO that the Smilin tastes a lot better in a CC, but again, that is just IMO, others might like it better in a premium.

If the heating element is not centered, the carts will burn hot. Try using tweezer, gently, to straighted out the heating element. This should work. If not, leave us a note on comments section with next order:D

Enjoy

  • Like Steve says, center the inner tube.
  • And/or use the caps"", with a hole in them, but since you don't like this:
    • Are you letting the cartos soak up the juice. Overnight if possible. If they aren't full, they will run hotter. I get better results if I let them sit for several hours anyway; they should hold over 20 drops.
    • Lastly, I use multiple PVs and rotate them to avoid any 1 getting hot.
""(I like the caps when sharing, for sanitary reasons anyway)
