I know juice and tank and device effect vape but I keep finding myself vaping evic with Protank 2.5 ohms at 3-3.2 volts.... Everywhere I read most vape hotter.. I guess whatever works for you is good just feeling a little left out... Higher than 3.6 all my juice tastes burnt... Multiple vendors of juice so that's not the problem... Any thoughts....

It has to do with thickness of the wire making the coil. If you vape a 34g kanthal coil at 8 watts it will produce clouds of vapor but a 28g kanthal coil at 8 watts...it wouldn't even get hot enough to produce any noticeable vapor. Watts, volts and ohms are meaningless unless you are using the terms to compare coils with the same gauge of wire.

Only use 1 top wick! The 2.5 ohm coils work best in the Protank. I have had Protanks since the first week they came out. When I tried the 1.8ohm coil going over 3.6 volts with thicker liquids would give me a very noticeable dry hit/ burnt taste.

I just went back to the 2.5 ohm coils ( with only 1 top wick). I can now vape between 3.0-4.2 depending on how much vapor I want without any burnt taste. Problem solved

Rereading you original post you are already using the 2.5 so also make sure you remove the rubber spacer on top of the head that covers the wicks it can also block the flow of the thicker eliquids causing dry hits

I use a 1.8ohm head in mine, and run it at 4.6v without dry or burnt hits.. I took 1 of the top wicks out, but that's it...and this is with 100% VG juice lol. Maybe I'm lucky though, idk.

Removing one of the wicks is definitely the way to go. With the wick in I could only get weak hits (3.4 volts or so) on the stock 2.4 (actual 2.21) heads. Once removing a wick (or 2) I run it at 4.3 all day. I started rebuilding my my own coils and it got even better. 3 strands of 1.5 mm Silica wrapped 6 times w/ 30ga kathal. Gets you to about 1.5 ohms and I will run it at 3.8-4.0.

I think that high voltage vaping can be can be somewhat linked to the smoking of substances which can't be mentioned here. There is definitely a different taste when you crank up the power. There is a propensity for those that vape at high volts to wear baseball caps backwards, be covered in tattoos an say "man" and "dude" a lot. As a smoker of lights for 30 years -I am with you. I rarely go above 3.7 or 3.8 volts. I dislike that burnt/harsh taste which our other vaping brethren enjoy. Each to his own. :)

Guess you can't fix stupid

Hate Baseball caps and never wear any hat backwards. No Tattoo's, rarely say man unless referencing sexual orientation and never use the word Dude if possible.

< I rarely go above 3.7 or 3.8 volts.> Does not mean ANYTHING without referencing what ohm devices you are using. i.e. .
I normally Vape @ 7 watts on 3ohm that is 4.58v Yet lower output than the 3.7v example.

Ops issue is simply a matter of poor wicking not allowing the coil to stay wet with e-liquid. WET COILS DO NOT PRODUCE BURNT TASTE!

Another misnomer is that Clearos cannot be Vaped at higher Voltages. My above example is on a Cheapo Kanger T5
I also normally use T3's, T3-mini's and CE5's at or around 7 Watts output.
First you must be willing and able to tweak any device to function at your desired levels.:glare:

You have no Idea how much better (more Flavorful) apple pie e-liquid is at 7watts than at 4watts:D

ETA - I also have NEVER smoked the Unmentionable - not didn't inhale-lol, but actually never tried.

I have 3 protanks and got that crap burnt taste on all of them...I took them apart, remove the center post with a little wiggle to expose the wicks and coil....there are 3 wicks. One coiled and 2 just sitting over it. Remove one of the 2 top wicks. That fixed my problem on my 3 pro tanks and 4 T3 bottom coil tanks. It lets a lot more liquid in but doesnt mess. Still my go to all day set up. I use my pro tanks at 8 to 10w....thats well over 3.5v. I never ever get a dry hit. Nor a mess. Vapor taste and hit are awesome.

That was the trick, I was having the same issue...I am in your debt!!
