I concede to the Duck. He has a lot more experience than me and has actually finished some damn fine pipes. I got my stems at epipemods.com but they are currently out of stock on most of them. I asked Matt the other day when he was going to have more and never got a response but he should have them soon just keep checking his website or follow his thread, he usually announces when they are back in stock.

This was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much... All I gotta do now is order some parts and hopefully be done by next weekend. Depending on shipping of course.

I'm glad this has helped you in some small way......Still looking for stems?...check out kena's thread "Where to buy-"

One last thought....It is best to have all the stuff your going to use on your work bench before you start....Saves time, not having to back track.....USE A FUSE.....

DanMan........They say that a picture is worth a 1000 words.......here's one worth about buck 98......

j5jb44.jpg

Now.... a little information....The battery is level or just below(about a mm +/-) the ring.....The button is magnet(opposing magnets)...All the button(switch) does is close the circuit ......Always use a fuse, things happen...I know...

Their are all kinds of ways to make a pipe, and all kinds of switch's ....go to page 59 #590 in "Pipe Talk-" and look at hirize's "zepipe switch 55" for one.....

Someone in this thread asked about using a Z-Max......Your only limited by your own imagination...."Freight Train Mods" use a DNA-12; "Mad Hitter" has made some pipes with a DNA-20; Yours truly has made a pipe that uses a Kick.....

The best way to learn about all of this.....use the search engine on this forum, type in "E-Pipe Mods", about 39 pages of which about a third of the posts you can skip.....Read through "pipe talk-" also you might be surprised by what you will learn...And also ask questions...

Anyway.....End of rant...WELCOME.....to our little house...

duckie.......
Thanks for the reply. I'll look into that. I'm thinking one of these would look pretty sweet.

Also does anyone know the typical diameter of a shank? Ideally I want to use a kayfun or a Penelope clone. it would be nice to find one that has a diameter close to an ego battery so that a flange ego cover will flow seamlessly from the shank if I use a ego connector, or if their is a pipe with a 22mm shank.

Geez, Awesome collection.
Just to let you know I am quite the EPM fan and am working on a pipe conversion myself right now. Haven't had much time lately to finish it up. Also you may want to get a couple of forstner drill bits to size the bowl for the battery and the keyring. Here's a picture of my pipe collection so far.

Hey Ragna - I chose a similar design for my second e-pipe. Admittedly I am on a budget, so this basically is a decent pipe body off of ebay for $10 shipped, a stem from china for $3, and a spare battery and carto-tank.

Hey whatever works. That's still a good looking pipe. Maybe you could find something to cover up the white part and make it look more like a shank. Just a suggestion....

Nice. Is it finished or is this just a preliminary set up?

So my thoughts at the moment are to cut a cheap mech mod and press the bottom with the switch assembly into the pipes chamber. that way I have a switch and can remove the battery with ease. I just haven't worked out how to get the power from the bottom of the chamber thru the shank and into a 510 connection. Also if I should drill thru the bottom at the same diameter of the chamber and affix a "bottom cap" for the vent.

Absolutely. I'm looking for something with the correct inner and outer diameter that I can cut to fit and is not ugly on the outside. Nothing at home depot, I may try the auto parts store next.

Basically finished except for how to cover that battery. It is the shortest I can find with enough firepower to light my carto tank. Auto batteries resolve the logistics of how to make and/or where to place the switch or button.

The wiring aspect, really isn't too difficult. Most mods that I have seen solder their positive and negative to the 510 and run the wires to through the shank into the bowl where the battery is. So, all you need it a way to act as your positive post where the battery would sit.

Have you checked into drip shields? I saw these on EPM.com They look like they would be a good fit http://www.epipemods.com/pipe-supplies/aluminium-drip-shield.html
