Looking for info...is there any danger to having epoxy resin inside a tankdevice. (Cured, of course). I was wondering if there was any danger of leaching chemicals if epoxy was used inside of a tank.
i wouldn't use any epoxy that wasn't at the very a food grade epoxy ,,,some of the catalysts used to make that cure can be be very toxic,,,super glue would also be a bad choice
Thanks. I know there is a lot of discussion about epoxy leaching in water systems, can linings, etc, but my brain still can't get completely wrapped around it. Some of the chemicals in the flavorings may really be bad against the epoxy, but who knows. I am sure the exact epoxy composition will have a lot to do with it. Don't wanna start inhaling these BPA thingies.
What I am really wanting is something to use as a seal inside my CE2 tanks. I would like a sealant that can flow and then harden like epoxy or something and, of course, be safe.
Still not comfortable with leaching issues. I think I'll try epoxy (need the strength) with a silicone cap. Maybe the silicone will keep the liquid away, but I will watch for a violation of the silicone sealing. I'm trying to do some mods to my Stone/Cartzilla tanks to eliminate leaking through the bottom seal.
