I have an idea for a flavor exchange program that I want to put into action, but I have to ask a few questions so I can figure out the right way to go about making it work the way I'm hoping it will work...

1) Can the creator of a Social Group subforum moderate that subforum?

If the answer is no then my idea won't work.
But if the answer is yes, then I have a few other questions...

2) Can the moderator not just delete, but completely remove posts from a thread?
3) Can the moderator completely delete threads from the subforum?
4) Can the moderator remove members from a Social Group if need be?
5) How long can a user edit any given post before the Edit button goes away?

Basically, I am hoping to set up a Social Group subforum, and I want to be able to moderate it such that I can either remove all posts from a thread that are no longer relevant or are over 24 hours old, or delete threads that are over 24 hours old. It is very important that I be able to completely remove things as needed to reduce clutter buildup.

I think I can make my idea work with either of the two methods above.

Thanks!!

DC I'm a moderator in my social group. I can delete threads or edit posts there. I can't remove members (but one of the other moderators can, just PM them with the reason).

It should work for you!
Helen....I have a group also! I think you can remove members if memory serves me? Should be under "manage members".

edit: Oops....I see Angus answered that already!

Technically, the owner of the social group can remove members. There are social groups with more than one moderator for their forums, by request.
Really now?.....Are their social groups that large that would require additional moderation? I thought mine was Top Dog around here???:D(No offense to MaryKay and the ladies!)

Yup, that's what happened with the "Sticky Forum". Just-Cass is the owner and moderator, but she requested me to assist her. Since I am her assistant, I don't think I can remove members, not that any members there would need removing. I have moved posts and deleted threads.

Wiz, Just-Cass had to take a break from the forum, but she didn't want to abandon the Sticky Forum, so she requested an assistant (me).

Now I know why everyone likes you Wiz !!! I have a lot of fun, moving posts to the wrong thread, deleting useful information, that kind of stuff 8-o:D...truthfully, I take my job very seriously, no "instigating" there.

I've never been able to find the "Sticky Forum".
