Hi all! First, thanks for all of the great info on this site. I saw an e-cig talked about on a different site and decided to do a little research. Much of the info here helped me decide to give e-smoking a shot and I ordered an njoy yesterday. Can't wait to try it!

That being said, I have a few questions that I could not find straight answers on:

1. What does everyone's non-smoking significant others think of their e-cigs? My wife is an ex-smoker, she has quit for over 3 years, so I'm forced to head out to the garage when I need a smoke. I told her that I was going to try an e-cig and that I could finally smoke in the house, but she objected saying how nicotine will "still be in the air." Is she way off base or am I better off just letting her win that one and maybe go down to the basement instead when my njoy comes?

2. How does everyone carry theirs? Particularly those with an njoy or similarly sized e-cig. Just toss it in your pocket? Any type of carrying case or specific WAY to carry it (i.e. mouthpiece facing down, etc.)?

3. Has anyone actually used this in the workplace? Been challenged by the boss? I work a semi-stressful job for a major telecom and would love to be able to just pull open my drawer and take a couple of pulls in between dealing with moro...err, customers.

4. Anything important I should know maintenance-wise? Clean it once a month? Periodically replace the battery?

Thanks for any info, I'm sure I'll have more!

Well my wife smokes, I can't help you there.. although, I bought her an Njoy and trying to ween her to use it more and cut down on regular ciggs. Have to get back to you on that one though. Only had an E-cig for about 2 weeks now. I also bought one from Njoy and a couple of other mini types from ebay.

I carry mine in my shirt pocket, but it is kind of a pain.. I keep it led down and mouth piece up. Also carry it in my pants pocket to the side that same way. From E-cig.com they have a carrying case. I ordered two types.. Have not recieved them yet. I'll leave feed back about those once I recieve them. Hopefully first of next week. Looks like the order is in customs right now.

Now, my workplace. Alot of employees smoke and the owner absolutely HATES cigarette smoke and smell.. I mean HATES IT... We all actually have to sneak outside and sneak drags here and there.. He doesn't even want us having smoke breaks at all. Anyways, I got my e-cig in, show'd it to em.. Grew a huge set of balls.. puffed it and blew it right in his face and said "I'm not smoking" then explained how it worked and what it was. He said I need to order more of them and sell them to everyone else in the work place lol. So I guess I have his approval. The real test will be when I use it in his vehicle and see if he notices. I've been using it at my desk, in the warehouse, up in the front offices where hes at and so on. Not sure if you will be able to use this anywhere as everyone says, but once you explain it and they understand it, you'll probably be fine.

After using mine for two weeks.. Have not had to clean it. I puff on mine quite a bit through out the day and part of the next day before I need to switch batteries. They hold a good charge. Make sure when you get yours to charge it for about 8 hours.. not the 3-4 that is stated in the manual.. I usually just end up charging mine all night long while sleeping. Hope you enjoy your E-cig when it arrives. Let us know your opinion and thoughts once you try it. Thanks

I began e-smoking with a pipe, then bought a cigar, then a mini cig. My wife is very tolerant of my using them anywhere, but says the vapor has a "sweet potato" smell to it when I smoke in the car.

I am going to lose the mini cig. I guarantee it. So far, I've left it in my shirt pocket and had to fish it out of the dirty clothes hamper three times. For the cigar, I ordered the thing that hangs around the neck. Now that is perfect. I'm never without the cigar hanging around my neck (and a real pipe in a pipe holster worn on a belt). I have yet to figure out how to take the mini cig -- but it's the least desirable "smoker" I own.

The pipe is too heavy to easily carry around. I do take it with me when I travel, placing it in a cupholder beside the driver's seat.

Basically, I rotate among the three devices, but heavily favor the pipe and cigar. That mini cig just doesn't cut it with vapor volume the way the pipe does.

I took the pipe to work when I first got it and showed it off to the Big Boss. He loved it. So I smoked at my desk. Now here's the weird part: Those who resented this the most were the non-smokers. You'd think they'd love the fact that I no longer went outside on cigarette breaks, but, noooooo. They wanted my e-smoking banned. It's an image thing. It looks real. Therefore it must be banned. What would customers think? My goodness, he's smoking! That's illegal! There's no winning this one. Other smokers loved it and wanted one, however.

I no longer work there.

Thanks for the input guys!

I have a feeling my office will be closer to yours TropicalBob. It's all very politically correct and "receptive to others' needs" and all that BS. I'll probably be better off not making an issue out of it, but maybe just sneaking a puff or two under my desk when no one's looking! I'd miss the social aspect of smoking too much if I completely stopped joining friends outside the building on breaks, so I'll continue to do that.

As for a carrying case, I would love one that emulates those old style cigarette cases. I might see if I can find one of those and see about fitting some type of foam padding or something cut out to the size of the njoy components. I'd think that spots for two batteries, the atomizer, and two cartridges should be plenty. As long as there are no concerns about the way you carry it, I should be okay with it just in my pocket for now.

Thanks again, looking forward to spending more time on the boards here!

My employer absolutely HATES cigarette smoke. I work in a small office, 4 attorneys and 3 other legal assistants. There is only 1 attorney besides myself that smoke.

When I first brought my electronic cigarette to work, I showed everyone and explained how it worked. They all thought it was cool. Yes, at first, I would sneak drags from it at my desk, but everyone told me that they could not smell it, so I got bold and now smoke it whenever I want to; but, not around clients, not that bold yet. :D

I no longer take my outside cigarette breaks and no one has complained, including my employer. I love it...

I don't own one, but I think those funky FDR-type e-cigarettes could pass for a ballpoint pen. Get one in black and keep a long, black ballpoint pen on your desk. Swap their use.

Heck, I don't exhale enough vapor to even be visible if I inhale deeply.

With the mini cig, I've learned to hide it behind a cupped hand anywhere that I don't want to make a scene.
