Just discovered something I thought I would share.
I used a proxy brush (basically an incredible small toothbrush (Amazon.com: Proxabrush Toothbrush Handle Gum Sunstar 610: Health & Personal Care) to clean down into the atomizer, on both sides adjacent to the coil. A bunch of black crap was cleaned out, and after running the brush on either side for a minute or so and blowing the cart out, the taste improved and it produced a good amount more vapor.
Fair warning, I reused my cartomizers for a long while. The one I cleaned has been in service for about 3 weeks now, and wasn't producing the flavor and volume it once did. Catromizers that haven't been in use a while might not produce the effects you want.
