Seems there's a lot of hate towards e cigs on the news. Pretty one sided and ignorant if you ask me. New to vaping and I'm proud to say that I am 45 days free of analogs. Sooooo..how do you respond to the haters when they try to tell you
"that's as bad as smoking..heard it on tv last nite.."

I'd ask in what way are they as bad? Then I'd remind them cigarettes have thousands of chemicals that are proven to cause cancer but ecigs/vaping has 4 ingredients...then I'd explain those 4 ingredients in which 3 are FDA approved and the other is food flavoring which we've been inhaling since birth from simply baking a cake or cookies. I'd also tell them not to believe every piece of news they see because much of it has hidden agendas.

I don't respond to haters. I prefer to just look at them blankly...give the odd head twitch...move my lips slightly like I'm talking to myself...and hope the get the message and leave my space.

Honestly though...to anyone who believes everything the see on TV / internet I have 4 simple words for them.... " You can't fix stupid !"

Whenever someone comes to my door to save me from hell I thank them for their concern and then engage them in a friendly discussion of theological paradoxes, history of the early church, and/or biblical archeaology in order to achieve the maximum amount of awkwardness and frustration, but in a nice way. The basic idea is to turn the tables--i.e. "since you asked, here's everything I know and it happens to be more than you know so now you have to sit and listen to me..." It's a very satisfying game.

If someone gets up on you with some comments about ecigs, in the nicest possible manner, bombard them with everything you know about ecigs long past the point that they've had enough.

Or, just ignore them and :vapor:

i haven't run into it yet, but when i do i'll tell them that it's an NRT device similar to the ---> FDA Approved <--- Nicorette Quickmist inhaler.... which has the SAME 4 ingredients as e-juice (AND an additional raft of other harmful chemicals that are not in e-juice). this is how i explained it to my family & friends when i first started vaping, and they all just said "Oh! Cool! Good luck and we're proud of you for quitting!" :D

I just tell them I prefer it to smoking, for a multitude of reasons, haven noticed any negative effects besides this kind of interaction, and ask them to please let me worry about myself and enjoy my vape in peace. Sometimes followed with "I've got to go back to work now, I appreciate your concern. If you'd like to chat more about vaping ill make you a latte and we can talk"

I haven't run into it yet either, but If it was a stranger just being negative, I would just tell them something like "well I don't know about that particular story, but all 3 of my doctors think it's great" (which is true btw) and shrug it off. Or that I prefer to go by scientific research rather than television.

If it's a friend or family member (or someone who seems genuinely confused), I take the time to go into the science and research more to help them understand.
