That Sony should boost it just fine. Data sheet says something about the control pin needs a dedicated line straight to the ground pin for regulator stability. Not sure if that has anything to do with it , about all i got off the top of my head. Are the caps electrolytic ?

Just caught the first half of this. My control pin is completely open as i was under the impression this would give 5v with no resistance value. Do i need to ground the control pin for it to work right?

If left open it should give you 5 volts. At least thats what the data sheet says " VO Adjust Pin #3 = If left open-circuit, the output voltage will default to its minimum adjust value "

vaping like a champ but still not right. Think i may have a problem with my mosfet not passing full current.
batt v. No load:4.1
Batt v. With 2.0 ohm atty:3.8
V.in to mosfet same load:: 3.78
V.out from mosfet 3.12

Is my mosfet fried?

Atty connector shows 4.99v no load but drops below battery voltage with load.

What value resistor are you using from gate to source? To low a resistance and you wont fully saturate the mosfet. Also what Mosfet did you end up using?
