Quick noob question

Hey guys,

I've tried to find an answer to this. I don't have a mech but I'm curious as to what happens when you fire a mech without a topper? Is that a short?

i've never tried just firing a mech with out a topper except for when testing voltage drop. but even then it has a meter attached to it. I guess some mods may be okay with really good batteries if the mod is giving some type of resistance but even then most wont use a mod that is giving off that much resistance.

Without an atty? Nothing happens. The contact pin has nothing to maintain the current through.

So if you have an atty attached but no reistance wire is that the same thing? The circuit isn't closed?
