From reading on here, many people think carto tanks are the bees knees (possibly even the cats pajamas) for both flavor and vapor. I've never used one, just ego-c atty/tanks and evods. I'm happy as hell with my evods compared to the ego-c tanks, but there could always be something better...

So, my question is: does the actual tank have anything to do with anything? My newb thoughts are that all the vapor and flavor would be up the quality of the carto used, and the tank holding the extra juice would be superfluous.

Thanks for indulging me.

As far as I can tell the tank looks, etc don't make any difference. The carto and juice are the deciding factors. I do have a Kamry X8 and a valleyviewvapes Glass cart tank that I really like. I use Boge prepunched cartos. They are great. I also like Kanger horizontal coil cartos but they are harder to find.

Your newb thoughts serve you well. then it comes to personal preference of dual/single coil, resistance and brand (filler and coil designs vary). your type of juice pg/vf flavor and hole placement/size/count come into play too.

The actual tank, other than carto compatability, doesnt do much anything other than hold juice. How well it does that is what matters. I usually dont mind off brand stuff but it seems to kind of matter on cartotanks.

i on occasion use dct with dual coil prepunched. Im an oddball in that realm though... i just like dual coils better.

Recently I picked up a Vivi Nova,as a courtesy buy,at a BM. While it is easier to clean and came with 3 different heads/ohms,I still prefer my Carto-tank,from Valley Vapes. I don't think the tank makes a difference,as much as having a constant supply of juice to the carto. I had started with the pre filled cartos/Blu,then moved on to the Ego,with the juice tank, atomizer, then to the Ce4,then to the Carto-tank. I much prefer the Carto tank, for flavor and vape production, too I don't get the dry hits,I would with the ce4s.

So if I picked up a regular carto (not punched), that should give me a good idea if I like cartos before I invest in a tank?

in short, yes. a tank just expands the juice capacity of a carto. just remember that not all cartos are the same, even identical ones. Regular cartomizers will give you a good idea, just know that a tank can add a more consistent flow of juice so you can take bigger hits more often.

pro-tip: if you find a place that has consistently good cartos... stock up. If you prime your cartos you can end up wasting a lot of juice on duds.

Hi,

I use a Kanger Protank II and am very happy with it, save some inconsistency with the coils.

Thanks! The evods I have are essentially the same now that I have protank heads in them. And I love them! I just need to see for myself what all the hub bub with carto tanks is about :)

My first experience with a Carto Tank was with a SMoktech Dual Coil Pyurex/Aluminum tank.

    I wasnt impressed.

I really dont like the SMoktech Dual Coil Cartomizers. Even at 6volts I dont feel its a satisfying vape.

But then I tried another tank, using a Boge Low Res Carto, and I punched the holes myself(the pre-punched holes are kinda tiny and dont, IMO, do a good enough job feeding the carto). I instantly fell in love with the vape. I went an purcvhased a whole bunch of Boge LR cartos and a couple different tanks, as well as some Boge XL Cartos, so I can use my Smoktech Tanks with a good cartomizer.

I felt/feel like with a carto tank, Ive kinda found the way I like to vape. I also really like rebuildable dripping attys, and I do use them a lot, but I find myself reaching for my Carto Tank more.

Funny thing is, Im not too crazy about cartomizers on their own. They're not bad by any means, but because the juices in the tank, provided you have punched nice size holes, keep it much more saturated than when you jus fill a carto and vape. Its because of this that I didnt try Carto Tanks right away, but Im glad I did.

Ive got a Provari on the way, and Im looking forward to hopefully being able to take a carto tank, slap it on the Provari, and feel like I have found the way I like to vape. But, Ill always try new stuff :)

The Kamry X8 Carto tank is a tank I like a lot.
Smoktech Dual Coil Pyrex&Aluminum Tanks are great once you switch out the DC Cartos for Boge Cartos
Next week Im going to order some of the really fancy looking tanks, like a Cartomater or a Rev Tank. Would love to have a Lava Tank. Gonna try and get a Fluid Flask too..

Give tanks a try, see what you like. And dont assume that you wont like tanks if you dont like cartos on their own. You may still like the way a carto preforms in a tank, but not like the way they are on their own.

IMO the carto without the tank is a bit more airy and dry tasting because the tank keeps the carto completely saturated. I run Boge XXL pre punched 2.0 ohm cartos in generic 5ml tanks and vape it all day at 5.2V on a vamo v3. The vapor production is WAAYY more than any clearo i have used and the flavor is top notch. The only juice i prefer in a BCC is a peppermint patty i have and for some reason it just seems more frosty in a BCC. This is ok though its a really dark juice and will clog my carto's in a matter of 3 days.
