I've been using the pro tank for a week now, and it is disappointing. Maybe because I only have standard ego batteries? It hits very airy, loose and light. I have swapped heads (to 1.8), removed one of the two flavor wicks! but is still very airy. Vapor production is good, but the flavors are muted. I get a better vape from a regular carto.

Is this just how it is, hence the PT2? My EVODs outperform it in every way.

I have a ProTank 1 and 2 and the v2 is indeed much better as far as the draw is concerned. I use my ProTank 1 on a vv mod, so I can adjust my voltage up. But that doesn't help with the draw. Try plugging on the the air holes in the base of the tank--I use a broken off toothpick. One plugged hole does the trick for me.

Good luck!

ETA: Removing flavor wicks may cause flooding and leaking and will not tighten the draw!

Unfortunately, my PT1 experience was pretty identical. Airy draw, would flood, muted flavors, etc. It's still a solid tank for how easy it is to fill and set up, however.

I can't comment on how to fix the airy draw, but I can say that rebuilding the atomizer head really helps with the muted flavors a great deal. It makes the tank much more enjoyable to use, and makes it become a decent, cheap RBT.

Removing the top wicks in a PT1 only makes the draw even more open as you have removed material that blocks the air flow. Actually adding another flavor wick in can tighten the air up flow a bit. That, and removal of the top wicks increases the likelihood of flooding. Those wicks are there for a reason.

One thing I have noticed is that the slightest rotation of the PT can impact the air flow, depending on where that positions the 2 vent holes in the 510 connector, plus how the vent hole in the bottom of the coil makes contact with the positive center post on the battery.

In addition, if you are using the PT on an eGo threaded battery and use the "beauty ring" supplied with the PT, if there is any play make sure you screw the beauty ring up toward the base of the PT. That impacts air flow as well.

Laugh if you like, but this is what I use. The hole fits perfectly around the 510 connection and the label is smaller in diameter than the Protank base, so it's not visible when it's on. I add more or fewer layers as needed. They last about 2-3 tankfuls and are dead cheap.

So not laughing. I have some of those and although my draw seems fine to my liking - must go play with office supplies.

How on earth did you come up with that one?

I had them on my desk for another project I was working on, then when I started experimenting with ways to restrict the Protank airflow I noticed them. Since they are paper, they also absorb small amounts of of seeping juice.

I imagine they would work on any 510 threaded device.

Thanks for the advice! I've had no flooding issues and throat hit and flavor are much better with the top wick removed. I have tried with and w/out the ring.

Nice idea on the airflow controller. I know that will be useful for other LDS' in the future.

Reinforcement ring is a clever idea, too. Plenty of those on hand.

I still have my EVOD's and will be picking up a couple of the Aspire tanks next week. Not a huge deal, but kind of disappointing. All part of the search for the perfect "for me" vape.

I used dental floss to block some of the holes in my Protank 1. Like this:

The Protank 2 I don't have to do anything to it. I'm liking them so much better than the first one.

That looks kinda busy! lol I'm sure you tidy up a bit as you go along.

I was just looking at my PT mounted on my Tesla. In this case there's enough of a gap between the PT base and the Tesla that I could put a very thin metal washer in there to tighten up the air flow. Just another option for someone to consider trying. But honest! My PT draw doesn't seem all that airy to me.

Of course!! A piece of dental floss hanging out would have bothered me big time. Not that I'm OCD or anything. I just did that for the picture. After I cut the floss so when I screw on the bottom, it didn't show. I just didn't like the Protank version 1 at. all. And I still have a bunch of them that I'll use for a PIF someday. I like the Protank 2 much, much better.
